Iampleasedtoan- nounce that Andrew Nor- wood passed his CalVet accredita- tion test last week. This gives us 3 VSO and VSRs ac- credited to serve our veterans. Andrew will now begin on-the-job training seeing clients. In FY 15/16, before An- drew joined our team, Bev- erly Holden and I brought in more than $2,300,000 in retroactive and monthly pay, tax-free, for our county veterans and their families. We continue to increase our veteran ser- vices, but need to slow down at times for train- ing and claim research. We appreciate your continued support and patience. The VSO office in Red Bluff is moving to 444 Oak St. #C, in the former Court- house Annex. We will move on April 28 and be open for business on May 2. The office Bill Goodwin and our Board of Super- visors found for us is re- ally nice and we appreciate their support. The office has been ren- ovated by County Facili- ties to build in veteran pri- vacy, which is of utmost importance to our veter- ans. Because the prior elec- tions office was wide-open, we added a window and wall for privacy for vet- erans when they are dis- cussing confidential infor- mation with our staff. The wall and window will be a sound buffer between our lobby and private office ar- eas. We continue to put veterans first and honor them with personal atten- tion and private meeting rooms. The Redding Veterans Resource Center, which as- sists qualified homeless veterans with transitional housing, will be at the VSO Red Bluff office 1:30-4 p.m. Thursday, April 20. Please contact the VRC directly for appointments at 223- 3211. Free yearly TRAX bus passes are available for qualified veterans at all VSO offices. We will is- sue the bus passes at the Red Bluff office and at our satellite offices in Corn- ing and Los Molinos. This wonderful opportunity will be available until the end of June. Please see the VSO office schedules be- low. Dependent College Fee Waivers can be submit- ted to us or make an ap- pointment with Beverly Holden at our office after April 15. Documentation necessary prior to the ap- pointment are the Veter- an's DD-214 and VA rating disability letter and IRS or Franchise Tax Board 2016 income verification for the dependent. The Col- lege Fee Waiver packages will be reviewed by the VSO on administrative Fri- days. Please plan ahead on these packages as the VSO will not be able to approve these packages on the same day as the appoint- ment. Thank you for your support. There are many state and federal benefits and programs available to vet- erans and their depen- dents. To find out if you are eligible for any of these benefits, call the Tehama County Veterans Service Office 529-3664. The VSO address is the Bank of America Building, 955 Main St., Ste. C, in Red Bluff. Office appointment hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thurs- day, closed from noon to 1 p.m. for lunch. The Red Bluff office VSO is by ap- pointment only. Corning VSO walk-ins are at the Veterans Memorial Hall 9-11 a.m. the every Tues- day of the month. Los Molinos walk-ins are 9-11 a.m. the first and third Mondays of the month at 7883 State Route 99E. DMV forms for "Veteran" designated on your driv- er's license are available at all VSO offices. The Te- hama County ID card is available in the Red Bluff VSO office. Incarcerated and Probation Veteran appointments are Thurs- day mornings. Friday's we are closed for administra- tion and outreach. We are looking forward to meet- ing you or seeing you again on your return visit. KellyOsborne, retired U.S. Coast Guard, is the Veterans Service Officer for Tehama County.
