6 Lyre Notes CHAPTER ETERNAL Martha Kruse Schmidt '57 entered Chapter Eternal on April 18, 2016, at Promise Hospital in Fort Meyers, Fla. Martha Lee was born May 7, 1936, in Carrollton, Mo. She graduated from the University of Missouri with a teaching degree. She was an elementary teacher and later taught at Carrollton Career Center. Martha Lee married Robert Sealby in 1959. They were blessed with three children, Randall Sealby (Janet) of Byron, Ill., Robert Sealby Jr. (Nancy) of Wenatchee, Wash., and Susan Sealby Orsini of Incline Village, Nev. Martha Lee later married Howard Schmidt on August 14, 1993. They shared a memorable life together for 23 years. Martha Lee was a proud member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Carrollton, Mo. She worked tirelessly when she believed in something. She believed in her teaching and commitment to faith, love, integrity and being the best, most compassionate person she could beājust a few of her character traits we all witnessed. We will strive to emulate her and carry the torch she handed off too soon. She was also passionate about her sports. You could hear her excitement across state lines. She was a loyal MU alumna, active in the community, a regent in DAR and past president of the Carrollton Woman's Club. She will be missed, never forgotten and always loved. She attended NWMSU for two years and completed her B.S. at the University of Missouri, Columbia in 1976. She always had a song in her heart. Lonna was a choir member in high school, at both universities and later sang with her church choir. She spent 10 years at Macy's, but her real passion was her time spent with the Junior Service League, both as an active member and later as a sustainer. She also was a member of the board at the historic Vaile Mansion and truly enjoyed her time spent with the volunteers there. She enjoyed concerts, sailing and many dear friends.
