3 Alpha Chi Omega W hen Jordan Bennett '09 arrived in Columbia, Mo., for her freshman year, it wasn't at Mizzou, but rather at nearby Stephens College. After she decided to transfer to Mizzou for her sophomore year, she knew she wanted to join a sorority to find a group of like-minded women. "While going through recruitment at Mizzou as a sophomore was a little daunting, it was worth it, because stepping into Alpha Chi Omega felt like home," she said. During her time in the chapter house, Jordan served as the webmaster for two years, and oversaw a redesign of the Alpha Nu website that won an award from the Fraternity. She graduated with bachelor's degree in business administration with an emphasis in marketing, a sales and consumer development certificate and an equine science minor. Her experience working with Alpha Nu as webmaster helped her after graduation in her positions in digital account management. After moving to Denver, she worked at both Integer and Factory, where she worked with clients such as Blue Moon Brewing Company, Kettle Chips, Crispin Cider and Freebird by Steven to activate their web presence and engage their consumers digitally. Just as Alpha Nu helped Jordan feel more at home at Mizzou, joining an active and engaged alumnae chapter in Denver made the new city feel like home. "Within two weeks of moving to Denver, I'd been recruited to join the Denver Area Alumnae Chapter board as the young alumnae chairman, responsible for planning events for the younger demographic of our membership," she recalled. Since then, she has continued to serve on the alumnae chapter board. "I then became the events chairwoman, where I planned four yearly, all-chapter events for our members : a fall kickoff event, a Founders Day event with the Nu chapter at the University of Colorado at Boulder, a holiday event and a spring luncheon. Then I moved to president, where I had the honor of accepting the centennial sash at ACW National Convention in Orlando in 2016. I'll pass my presidential duties on to the incoming president in May, but will remain on the board as historian for one additional year," she said. In addition to the connections she's developed as an alumna, Jordan continues to stay connected with her Alpha Nu sisters. She and Meagan Fabere, Sarah Ragon, Aren Koeing, Rachel Churchman, Andrea Piamonte and Sara Whitecotton (all 2008 initiates) have made it a point to meet for yearly reunions in cities like Galveston and Austin, and this spring in Columbia for a spring football game. "I'm also very lucky that Denver is such a great city because many sisters, like Alison Schenkelburg '09, pass through to visit the mountains and I have a chance to see them," she shared. Jordan now works for Chronos Interactive, which she describes as "a small and awesome web development firm" as their project account manager. "I got very lucky with Chronos, as they value and advocate for a work/life balance among their employees that is often hard to find," she said. In her free time, Jordan remains dedicated to her longtime passion of horseback riding. She rides with White Harvest Farms in Brighton, Co., and is in the process of becoming certified as a rule supervisor/United States Equestrian Federation steward. She also spends time with her boyfriend, Walker, a wildland firefighter who works in the White River National Forest and, thanks to an influx of yarn inherited from her grandmother, knitting.
