By Joanne Winer What a great day for the 21st annual Party in the Park to celebrate Celia's Rainbow Gardens and Celia's birthday (she would have been 31)! We had a great day listening to some fantastic music, chowing down on some delicious food, and everyone seemed to have a good time. I would like to say a special thanks to Thrivent for Lutherans, whose gift card helped pay for the food, and to the General Store for ordering and storing some of the food until it was time to pick it up. The entertainment this year was also great--Nick Waite and his friends, Norm Sharp, Sonja Bartel (from Skyhawk), Cliff Price and Wayne Walker came out and put on a great show of country music. Paul Winer also was there with Steve Hohstadt playing boogie/woogie blues, and even a gospel song. Ev- eryone loved the music from both bands. We also had a raffl e of the beautiful and one-of-a-kind quilt that was donated for the raffl e by Jean Winters, former owner of Shady Lane RV Park who has since retired to Bouse. The lady who won the quilt was Evelyn Bull, who comes here for the winters from North Bat- tleford, Saskatchewan, Canada--and she was thrilled to take it home with her--loved the "Scattered Leaves" pattern--reminded me of the maple and oak trees where I come from in Canada. Thanks also for all the volunteers who came to help cook and serve the food. They always do a great job-- some of them were from Thrivent as well I didn't get all their names but just want them to know how much I appreciated their help--it sure was busy! And the day would not have been so much fun if not for all the people who came out to enjoy the afternoon with us. Luckily, it was not too hot or windy, so it went re- ally well again this year. Thanks to everyone who supports the Gardens and hopefully some will come out and volunteer sometimes; there's lots of work to be done! | S RAIN G-B
