I t is our great privilege to announce that, after a majority vote from the members present at the House Corporation's annual meeting, Theta Omega is joining the esteemed Tri Delta properties owned and operated by National House Corporation (NHC). By setting a high standard for chapter housing, NHC fulfills its mission to add value to the Tri Delta experience by thoughtfully enhancing the collegiate living and learning environments. Though chapter staff and operations will remain unchanged, the Theta Omega house will receive continual evaluation and enhancement when the chapter transitions in August in order to showcase the house as one of the top Greek facilities in the country. Please join us in thanking our steadfast House Corporation volunteers, who spearheaded this transition and will continue serving the chapter in a new capacity in the months ahead. We invite you to join us in celebrating this exciting next phase for Theta Omega! Delta Love, Whitney Mitchell, University of Texas Arlington '08 Marketing Specialist Tri Delta Foundation and National Housing Corporation wmitchell@trideltaeo.org N ancy Lemieux Champlin '75 was drawn to Tri Delta for two reasons: several of her high school friends were already part of the chapter and she really liked the women that she met while going through recruitment. Over the next four years, her involvement with her Theta Omega sisters taught her lifelong lessons about sisterhood and loyalty. Throughout her undergraduate experience, the women of Theta Omega emphasized loyalty, deep friendship, and what it meant to belong to a reputable organization. For Nancy, her experience was deepened by her connection to sisters Pamela Struby Hannifan '74 and Susan Dalton Violand '74. "They were just such positive role models. They exuded a friendly openness and conveyed a willingness to always help you through anything," she said. While at KU, Nancy also pursued her interest in working with children's early education. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in elementary education before going on to receive master's degrees in learning disabilities and early childhood special education at KU. She is also a board certified behavior analyst through Pennsylvania State University. Nancy was working with children from ages birth to 3 years old, doing home special instruction services, when she fell in love with kids on the autism spectrum. "I love teaching individuals another way to communicate. In those situations, many times the individual is accustomed to communicating using their challenging behaviors, and we help them find other ways to communicate. I also enjoy teaching preschool children how to play appropriately," she said. Because of this passion, Nancy founded Autism Concepts Inc. (ACI), where she is the owner and CEO of five learning centers for children with severe challenging behavior and individuals on the autism spectrum, with centers in Overland Park, Kansas, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Edmond, Oklahoma, Fort Hood, Texas, and Southlake, Texas. Since Nancy oversees roughly 150 employees across the five centers, she does a lot of leadership training. Her presentations often harken back to the values she learned as part of Tri Delta, namely integrity, honor, loyalty, and developing a culture of trust and respect. Moreover, her Theta Omega sisters have stayed a part of her life through reunions with sisters from the 1970-75 new member classes, including a recent trip to New York City to see KU play at Madison Square Garden. She has also enjoyed attending the alumnae summer coffee, where she is able to see sisters from different new member classes and hangout at the chapter house like they used to. Nancy and her husband, Bradley, live in Leawood, Kansas. They have three children and six grandchildren under the age of 4, with two more grandchildren on the way. She and Bradley also own a home in Keystone, Colorado, where they enjoy skiing, hiking, and mountain biking. She also loves to bake to the delight of her grandchildren.
