Page 3 S A E G eoff Cubitt '92 joined Sigma Alpha Epsilon because he wanted to get involved on campus and interact with more people. A friend of his convinced him to attend some recruitment functions, and when he met the guys of Indiana Beta, he didn't have to look much further. As he remembers it now, "when you live with 80 other people, you're going to live with a lot of characters, and you're going to be exposed to a lot of different perspectives. Overall, it was a really developmental experience." While he lived in the chapter house, Geoff worked, through his position as recruitment chairman and later as vice president, to convey that message to potential new brothers and parents. "People don't think about this, but the undergraduate chapter is really just a bunch of 18 to 22 year olds running things, making a budget, and getting things done. It's the perfect place to learn about leadership, to mentor others, and to be mentored," he said. Those experiences are what motivated Geoff to donate at the Phi Alpha Society level to A Tradition of Excellence: The Campaign for Indiana Beta. "As I was thinking about the chapter house, I thought about the way it was when I was an undergraduate; it was a pretty big, pretty nice house. And someone before me had helped pay for that, and I was able to benefit from that," he said. "It's up to us to help pay that faith that others put into Indiana Beta forward, so that the active brothers and maybe our children can benefit from it. I think these planned updates will improve the living environment for members, and help them continue to attract quality brothers going forward," Geoff said. He continued, "I think it's easy to be apathetic and to believe that other people will pick up the slack, but participation in this campaign is sort of like running a chapter house; it only works when everyone pitches in and helps out." Geoff earned a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from Purdue and a master's degree in Industrial Engineering from Stanford. He was a founder of Roundarch, a digital agency, which became Isobar in 2013, where he now works as CEO of their operations in the United States. Isobar is a global, full-service digital agency that designs and builds digital solutions for a wide range of clients, including NBCUniversal, HBO, Enterprise-Rent-a-Car, Lego, and Adidas. He and his wife, fellow Purdue University graduate, Kate Cummings Cubitt, live in Evanston, Illinois, with their sons, Owen and Drew. He still stays in touch with Damian Mason '92, Joe Vanmeter '95, Jim Mourafetis '91, and Ed Nichols '91, and they all meet up a couple of times a year. In his free time, he plays tennis, platform tennis, attends music festivals and sporting events with his sons, and plays guitar. You can connect with Geoff at geoff.cubitt@isobar.com. Paying It Forward Why Geoff Cubitt '92 Is Giving Back to Indiana Beta B rothers, I hope this letter finds you well all across the realm. I'm happy to report that life here in West Lafayette for the brothers at Indiana Beta is lively and optimistic, as is our future moving forward. With the recent variance approval, we are extremely excited for the phases of our renovation to begin in the coming months, but that is not to say our past few months should go unnoticed. The past semester and a half has been incredibly fulfilling as we have had brothers excel in academics, philanthropy, intramurals, on-campus involvement, and external involvement. Academic Achievement From an academic standpoint, our house received a 3.01 GPA during the fall semester. This ranks us among the top five fraternities at Purdue, and is consistent with our past academic performances. We have also begun our own in-house mentorship program for the vast number of majors we are grateful to have make up our house as a whole. Indiana Beta Sets Its Sights on a Successful Spring Brothers Thankful for Alumni Support Campus Activities and Intramurals As far as campus involvement is concerned, we have had brothers step up to major leadership roles on the Interfraternal Council with Stephen Binstock '19 serving as treasurer and Samuel Gillen '18 as chief justice of the judicial board. Brothers Jon Gaide '18 and Robert Minturn '17 have put their efforts toward serving as committee heads for Purdue University's Dance Marathon. Brothers are also excelling in intramural sports, with championship wins in both fraternity and coed flag football, coed handball, inter-tube water polo, and first, second, and third place in the intramural bowling league. It has been a hugely successful fall season. Philanthropic Pursuits In regard to our own philanthropic endeavors, while we continue to be active and successful in other organization's events, we shifted the bulk of our efforts to creating one of the most successful Paddy Murphy Weeks in recent (Continued on page 4) Male and coed intramural flag football championship winners.
