ARICCRABB—BAYAREANEWSGROUP Oakland mayor Libby Schaaf shared letters she has sent to NFL executives that for the first time detail plans to build a stadium for the Raiders in the East Bay. ByElliottAlmond BayAreaNewsGroup OAKLAND MayorLibbySchaafvowed Friday that Oakland is trying to keep the Raiders while for the first time sharing details of investors' plans in a last-minute attempt to change the narrative that the NFL doesn't have an alternative in the East Bay. "We're not giving up in the fourth quarter," Schaaf said in a statement. "Since I took office two years ago, I have been focused on taking a team- centered approach that is responsible to the Raiders, the NFL, the fans and the taxpayers of Oakland." Schaaf said officials have done the necessary work to offer a solid plan to build a $1.3 billion stadium on the current site of the Coliseum. "We've been successful in doing the environmental clearance, align- ing the City and the County which jointly own the land, engaging the league and bringing partners to the table in the Lott Group and Fortress who have the financial backing, com- passion for this community and in- timate knowledge of the game — on and off the field — to get a deal done. "All that's missing is the Raiders." However, the action might be too late. All indications are that NFL owners will approve the Raiders' relo- cation to Las Vegas when they gather for annual meetings starting Sunday in Phoenix. A relocation vote is ex- pected Monday. Owner Mark Davis needs 24 of the 32 owners to sanc- tion the team's third move in 35 years. The approval is expected even with questions looming over how the fi- nancing will work for a $1.9 billion domed-roof stadium next to the Las Vegas Strip. The A's didn't have Khris Davis in the lineup for the second straight day — not that the offense missed him. Ryon Healy hit his fifth homer of the spring as the A's pounded the Chicago White Sox 8-2 on Friday at Hohokam Stadium. Davis, who hit 42 homers last season, is out for a few days with what manager Bob Melvin called a minor right quadriceps strain. "We don't think it's that big of a concern," Melvin said, adding that he hopes the outfielder will be back in the lineup Sunday. Shortstop Marcus Semien was removed after being hit by a pitch from Jake Petricka in the second inning. Melvin said after the game that Semien was OK and just took him out early af- ter playing three days in a row. One day after scoring 15 runs against Milwaukee, the A's scored five in the first inning against Zach Putnam, a Chicago reliever who was a last-minute replacement. Carlos Rodon, the scheduled starter, was scratched with biceps tendinitis. The A's took advantage, sending 10 men to the plate and coming through with five singles — four of them for RBIs. Trevor Plouffe, Yonder Alonso, Mark Canha and Chris Parmelee had the run-scoring hits. "We had some good situa- tional at-bats," Melvin said. "If we're going to be successful that's what we're going to have to do." Healy's homer came with a man on in the second against left-hander Matt Purke. All that time in between pitches didn't distract Kendall Graveman, who went seven in- nings in his first start since the announcement that he will pitch the A's opener against the Los Angeles Angels on April 3. He allowed five hits and one run, struck out seven and walked no- body. "I could have gone longer, but that was all that was needed," said Graveman, who threw 83 pitches and had some long breaks while the A's scored all their runs in the first four in- A'S, GIANTS SPRING TRAINING A'SDAVISISOUTAGAIN BECAUSE OF QUAD STRAIN PHOTOS BY MATT YORK — THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Oakland Athletics' Ryon Healy, right, high-fives Stephen Vogt a er hitting a two-run home run Friday against the Chicago White Sox.
