KNTV reports the inci- dent happened Friday at a gas station after police were called about a man acting erratically, threat- ening people and simulat- ing a gun with his fingers. Footage of the con- frontation shows the offi- cer hitting the man three more times after a second officer arrived to help sub- due the man. One officer was injured during the confrontation. LAW ENFORCEMENT Policeinvestigate officer's use of force in Bay Area arrest program has 11 explorers, which he is very excited about, said Red Bluff CHP Area Commander Lt. Lou Aviles. The money raised for the program will go to- ward the cost of training and competitions. "This is a program that is for Tehama County youth ages 15-20 and it allows them to explore a career in law enforcement," Aviles said. "Last year it costs about $3,000 to send six ex- plorers to a three day com- petition so this year we're estimating $5,000-6,000 for training and to send 11 explorers to competition." The program has non- profit status and all dona- tions go to the operation of the program. Anyone in- terested in donating to the program can contact Aviles at 527-2034.
