Join us for the ABC's of caring for your baby! In the past four years, the Home Builders Association of Fayetteville has given away more than $75,000 to non-profi t organizations throughout this community. Not only do they share their generosity with the community, but their benefactors get a great night of entertainment and fun, too. On March 19, at Highland Country Club, presenting sponsor Savvy Homes and the Home Builders Association of Fayetteville invites the community to come on out and enjoy an evening of fun at Casino Night. "We have everything from black jack to roulette to texas hold 'em to craps," said Natalie Woodbury, Homebuilders Association of Fayetteville executive offi cer. "The ticket is $75 and includes food, two drink tickets and $500 in funny money." There will be some exciting prizes for the winners, but ultimately the goal is for everyone to have a great time while supporting a good cause. "The grand prizes ... one will be some sort of electronic item like a big screen TV, one will be a Visa gift card and one will be a piece of jewelry from Hinkamp Jewelers," said Woodbury. "The other prizes are everything from wine baskets to movie passes to pocket books — all different kind of things." The top three prizes will be given to the people who win the most funny money at the event. For a chance at the rest of the loot, each person will be given a raffl e ticket for every $500 that they win. All the tickets will be put into a hat and winners will be drawn. The Home Builders Association of Fayetteville chooses a different nonprofi t to give the proceeds to each year. This year they have chosen the Care Clinic. "We chose the Care Clinic because their mission — and I don't want to misquote — is providing healthcare for low income, uninsured adults in Cumberland County," said Woodbury. "We just feel like the services that they provide are very benefi cial to people who cannot afford health insurance and that was why we chose them." Located at 239 Robeson St., the Care Clinic has been serving Cumberland County since 1993. The doctors are all volunteers and bring several different skill sets to the establishment including dermatology, orthopedics and dentistry. Care Clinic Executive Director Cathy Ory pointed out that they depend on donations for supplies too. Folks who are interested in helping the clinic out but can't make it to Casino Night "could always send in donations, they could look at our newsletter — we have a wish list for simple things like toilet paper, canned sodas and other things. All our doctors and dentists are volunteers so they come after they've already left work. We are supported by wonderful churches in the community that provide dinners for our volunteers." Ory already has plans for whatever proceeds they receive from Casino Night. "It'll help buy meds for patients who can't afford it and medical and dental supplies to provide care for uninsured patients."
