Creating Lofty goaLs Alpha Delta Continues Improving after Fall Recruitment and Philanthropic Successes S isters, I am glad to report Alpha Delta Chapter had a successful year. From gaining new perspectives from our Phis to growing as a Chapter through new experiences, we ended the last semester with a hopeful future. Fall semester always provides a plethora of activities and events for our Chapter. The philanthropic work, football games, recruitment, and social events make the semester a busy one, but we were still able to maintain an impressive Chapter GPA of 3.21. Alpha Delta Chapter was more successful than ever during formal recruitment. This past year was the first "no frills" recruitment. This allowed us to showcase our love and support for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals during philanthropy round, and then potential new members had the chance to "Party with Phi Mu." After meeting 1,584 potential new members, our 130 Phis ran happily home on October 16. The 2016 new member class comes from 23 different states and includes 26 Phi Mu legacies. After considering Alpha Delta's success during 2016 formal recruitment, I am certain we will only reach more heights in 2017. Alpha Delta has set its sights high regarding philanthropic work. In addition to our member involvement in a multitude of campus-wide events, the Chapter dedicated its time to three main fundraisers. For the second year in a row, we were the largest contributing collegiate Chapter in the Phi Mu Foundation's M3 Campaign, contributing more than $17,000. We also partnered with Phi Delta Theta fraternity to organize and host the first North Mississippi ALS Awareness Walk. We donated $4,985 to the Mississippi/Louisiana ALS Foundation. Philanthropy Chairman Aynslie Fritz '14 set an ambitious $15,000 goal for our first Cheesin' for the Children event. Collegiate students, alumnae, and families of the community joined us on a chilly November evening to enjoy cheesy foods, resulting in a $15,170 donation to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital. This year, Philanthropy Chairman Caitlyn Connell '14 has slated a semester full of philanthropic work, including our sixth annual Bonnamu Music Festival on March 24 at The Lyric. We look forward to having our alumnae and members celebrate our Founder's Day at a brunch on March 4 at the Chapter House. We are so thankful for the support we have received from the House Corporation and look forward to this year. Be on the lookout for more information on upcoming Chapter and alumnae events from our alumnae liaison, Madelyn Birkelbach '15.
