Agricultureranch farm Sparrowk Livestock, Clements, was recognized as Region VI Environmental Stew- ardship Regional Winner in the 22nd year of this outstanding program during the Cattle Industry Summer Conference in Denver. Since 1991, the Environmen- tal Stewarship Award Jean Barton and improving fish and wildlife habitats while operating profitable cattle operations. The ESA is an initiative of the National Cattle- mens Beef Association and the National Cattle- men's Foundation and is funded by Dow Agro- Sciences LLC and the Natural Resources Conser- vation Service (NRCS) of the USDA along with a partnership with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. Award winners are selected annually by a com- mittee of representatives from universities, conser- vation organizations, and federal and state agen- cies. For guidance, the judges consider the manage- ment of water, wildlife, vegetation, air, and soil along with leadership abilities and the sustainabil- ity of the business as a whole. Previous regional winners from California have annually recognizes outstand- ing stewardship practices and conservation achievements of U.S. cattle producers across the nation.
