Honoring Our Past, Securing Our Future
our need to Build
W
hile the Sigma Pi experience is certainly more than the physical
structure of the chapter houses, our homes undoubtedly have
played a significant role in the development of our brothers and serve as a
proud symbol of our shared values and goals.
Built in the 1940s and 1950s, the two houses on 12th Street have been a
part of Alpha Iota's legacy for over 50 years and are showing their age. It is
clear that we must make a major investment in our chapter houses if we are
to remain competitive, provide a quality living environment, and advance
our chapter's quest for excellence.
KEEPING OUR BROTHERS SAFE
The safety of our undergraduate members is of utmost importance to the
Alpha Iota Building Association; we must offer a structurally sound and
safe home for our members. A newly constructed facility will provide a
safe and comfortable living environment for our brothers. Much like
our personal homes, our chapter house must be a safe haven that instills
confidence in our members and their parents.
PURSUING EXCELLENCE
Missouri S&T is as academically challenging as ever and the need for an
enhanced, quiet, well-lit, and comfortable study space within our facility
is necessary for our members. We have all seen the impact of technology
over the years, as devices not present during your college years are now
necessities. Our plan will ensure that Alpha Iota excels academically and
remains scholastic leaders on campus and within the Greek system.
SETTING OURSELVES APART
Students and their parents demand more for their housing dollars, are
insisting on more space and privacy, along with other amenities. While
Alpha Iota continues to attract some of the top men, we know that we are
losing quality potential members to other fraternities who have completed
renovation and construction projects and are offering better facilities. We
must also compete with the amenities offered in new on-campus residence
halls and off-campus apartments.
As a result of this campaign, Alpha Iota will be able to offer a first-class
facility to our collegiate brothers, compete with other fraternity housing, as
well as a multitude of residence hall and apartment options, and recruit the
quality men the chapter needs to remain a premier fraternity at Missouri
Science and Technology.
