"She was a kind, supportive woman with similar goals and interests in architectural design," Jaclynn says. "Now, years later, she is an inspirational friend, colleague, new mother, and forever 'big' sister to me." Nearly 10 years after graduating from the University of Florida, Jaclynn remains closer to Sigma Kappa than ever, as she is the Vice President of Property Management for Sigma Kappa National Housing Corporation. She feels fortunate to be in her role and is constantly learning. "As I continue volunteering through the NHC, I really enjoy the opportunity to pay it forward to other women that share the same interests and passion for design and sustainability." Jaclynn remains busy reviewing designs, providing support, and ensuring they are upholding the policies and standards developed to provide safe, attractive, and affordable housing. As a registered architect, she will also utilize her expertise to provide additional support on projects. "I really enjoy the tremendous impact that the projects and planning have on our local volunteers and chapter," Jaclynn says. "Transformational changes are very exciting and I am always looking for opportunities to provide innovative solutions to design challenges." She is especially proud to have piloted an award-winning sustainability program within a local chapter. Thanks to formal recruitment, Jaclynn feels comfortable speaking anywhere and in front of anyone. "I consider Sigma Kappa my 'finishing school,'" Jaclynn says. "I learned so much from the volunteers, staff, and sisters. I am grateful to have had an opportunity to be a part of this values-based organization." Aside from volunteering through the NHC, Jaclynn still stays in touch with many of her Beta Tau sisters. She urges all alumnae to stay involved and connected with sisters—whether that is through the national organization or Beta Tau. "I would encourage all to actively support Sigma Kappa, whether it is through time, activities, mentoring, or donations," Jaclynn says. "The feeling of supporting young women on their road through college and beyond is incredible." She also offers a piece of advice to current undergraduates: put your phone down and hug the woman next to you. "I think it is extremely important to disconnect from your devices and experience the adventures that your camera cannot capture." Jaclynn and her husband, Alex, got married on June 18, 2016, and live in Seattle, Wash. In her free time, she enjoys rowing and traveling. Through her NHC travels, she has the opportunity to visit many other Sigma Kappa chapters. "It's incredible to see the network of sisterhood spread around the world," Jaclynn says. "The next time you visit a city with a local chapter, I would encourage you to stop by and say hello—ask for a tour." You can contact Jaclynn at nhcvppm@sigmakappa.org.
