Our PrOud Heritage
S
ince our founding in 1923, Phi Mu has been an important part
of fraternity and sorority life at the University of Arkansas. With
more than 1,000 initiates, the Alpha Beta Chapter has influenced
the lives of numerous women and sustained them during some of
the most formative years of their lives, cultivating lasting friendships
in the process. As alumnae, we can trace many of our best college
memories back to our Phi Mu experience.
While there may be some differences in today's chapter compared
to the one you knew, the fundamental ideals of Phi Mu continue
to thrive at the University of Arkansas. More than ever, sororities
play a significant role in the development of young women and this
growth is crucial in today's competitive world. In addition to the
standards taught by our sisterhood, our Phi Mu membership also
provided us with lessons in leadership, organization, social skills,
teamwork, and character. These traits are integral to our personal
and professional success and help make us the women we are today.
The alumnae of the Alpha Beta Chapter at the University of
Arkansas have the opportunity and responsibility to influence
the growth and stability of the Fraternity and its purposes of love,
honor, and truth. A long-standing aspect of Phi Mu that always
attracts women to join is the family-like atmosphere that scales
down the large University. This setting encourages students to get
involved and to excel in the classroom. Now is the time to build a
HFME for this family.
