Is that true? — Stacy Rhodes, via e-mail A : The Hayley Atwell-star- ring ABC law drama is one of several new series this season that was allowed to run out its original order with- out additional episodes being requested — meaning that its first season wasn't really a full season, something that can't be taken as an encouraging sign. Nevertheless, the network hasn't said the show officially is canceled, meaning it's a contender to return to the ABC lineup next season. Given the circumstances, though, the odds appear to be against that. Q : "Shameless" ended the season on such a high note, was that its swan song? — Richard Dunkel, Columbus, Ohio A : It wasn't, though that wasn't known at the time the episode was filmed.
