Two informational meetings are scheduled — 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9 in room 806 on the Shasta College Main Campus and 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13 in room 1425. Students participat- ing in the study abroad program will spend two weeks, July 21 trough Aug. 4, to learn about the ecol- ogy of the tropical sa- vannah, home to Afri- ca's iconic wildlife, and the rich marine environ- ment of the coastal wa- ters. Working alongside scientists from around the world, students will com- plete college courses while developing skills in field research to benefit conser- vation. Exposure to South African cultures is also a focus of the expedition. These informational meetings will give a gen- eral overview of the expe- dition program, field sites, and information about the region. Information about ap- plications, program costs, scholarships and other lo- gistics will be provided. Resources provided by our partner organization, Op- eration Wallacea, will also be shared. Both meetings will cover the same essen- tial information. These meetings are free and open to the public. Nahinu has three no bail felony warrants for weap- ons violations, drug vio- lations and failing to ap- pear. Nahinu has a fourth felony warrant with a bail of $150,000 for vehicle theft. Nahinu's is a Hawai- ian man, 5 feet 8 i n c h e s tall, 150 p o u n d s , black hair, brown eyes. Anyone with infor- mation regarding Na- hinu's whereabouts can all any local law enforce- ment agency at any time or during business hours can call the Tehama County District Attorney's Bu- reau of Investigations Of- fice at 529-3590. Nahinu Scholarship applications are now available for five Molino Star Order of the Eastern Star "Make a Dif- ference" scholarships for high school seniors. The scholarship is for $1,000 per year for four years. Annual renewability is at the discretion of Mo- lino Star Chapter, subject to the vote of the membership. The scholarship program is designed to financially assist qualified applicants in obtaining degrees from accredited academic insti- tutions of higher learning in any field. The program is open to any student pre- paring to enter an accred- ited degree-granting voca- tional college or university and pursuing a course of higher education. The scholarships are awarded based on merit as measured by academic per- formance, extracurricular activities, Masonic connec- tions and financial need. The intent of the scholar- ship is to provide the stu- dent with the means and motivation to be a success- ful representative at an in- stitution of higher learning. Seniors should see their high school counselors for applications. All applications are due March 15.
