New signs going up around town Quartzsite has new Neighbor- hood Watch Signs! Designed by local artist Mark Goldberg, vol- unteers drummed up donations from individuals and local busi- nesses to purchase the fi rst group of signs. The fi rst signs went up at Las Casas de Quartzsite fam- ily & Senior apartment complex. More signs will be placed in areas around town which the Neighbor- hood Watch group and Quartzsite Town designates as needed. The next meeting will be this Thursday, February 2nd at 6pm in the Com- munity Center building, located at Town Park on Chandler Ave. Be sure to stop in and see what's hap- pening in your neighborhood! Artist and model reunion Horizon Community Bank show- cases a variety of artists each month. Award winning Oney Budge's artwork was featured in January, when she met with her model Christi Reese-Howard in front of "Giving Thanks." Christi, a Lakota Native American from Idaho, is enjoying winters in Quartzsite. Winning awards right from her fi rst painting, Oney's artwork does more than tell a story; the realism brings to life the people and ani- mals in each piece. Oney's atten- tion to detail and light touch of oil washes build a unique photo like fi nish complimentary to her sub- jects. Her water colors capture the same essence with the light wash of color and detail, yet a more relaxed form of letting the paint take on a life of its own. | S RAIN BC
