With a large corner tub, deck-mounted tub faucet,
and single sink, a young couple's condo master
bathroom was cramped and impractical. The
complete renovation of the space centers on a
new alcove tub/shower, positioned to allow natural
light from the glass block and frosted windows; a
frameless glass panel contains the spray while
further transmitting the daylight.
A new, larger vanity, relocated to an adjacent
wall, features dual sinks, three center drawers, and
a white quartz countertop with warm veining. A
new pocket door saved additional space.
The designer kept the existing window, but she
framed it with white quartz for a smooth surface
that also provides a ledge for soap and shampoo.
The surround was pitched, grouted around the
outside edge, and sealed with silicone along the
inside. White, beveled subway tile, polished
chrome fixtures, and accents such as filament-bulb
glass sconces accommodate the home-owners'
wish for a vintage/classic look.
