The annual event brings visitors from all over the United States in part due to its reputation as being the best consignment bull sale west of the Rockies, bring- ing consignors and buyers to town from Nevada, Texas and Arizona, Sale Manager Adam Owens said. The 76th anniversary of the sale will see the contin- uation of a reward for ex- cellence with special prizes to the Supreme Bull and top cow horse. "We started last year for the 75th anniversary and we are going to continue giv- ing a $7,500 cash award to Supreme Bull and a guar- anteed payout of $7,500 for the top cow horse," Owens said. The Supreme Bull will be selected from among the champion halter bulls and must be either bred by the consignor or owned for a year prior to the sale, ac- cording to contest rules. In all there are 426 entries listed in the online edition of the bull catalog along with 92 geldings on the www.redbluffbullsale.com website. Traditionally, stock dogs are limited to 20. The road to the sales starts with the sifting pro- cess, which starts at 9 a.m. Tuesday with Range Ready Calving Ease and Range Ready Bulls. It continues at 9 a.m. Wednesday with the remaining bulls. Stock dogs start at 1 p.m. Wednesday with a prelimi- nary preview for buyers out- side near the Trinity Avenue parking lot. The sale will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the Don Smith Pavilion. "New this year we have a Calf Branding Preview for the geldings consigned to the sale to offer a venue to showcase the geldings in a typical ranching activity," Owens said. The preview starts at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Pau- line Davis Pavilion. Com- petitions including cutting snafflebit hackelmore, stock horse and team roping start at 8 a.m. Friday. Doors for the gelding sale open at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the Pauline Davis with the sale starts at 6 p.m. Admis- sion is $10 per person. The Bull Sale kicks off Saturday's big events at 9:30 a.m. with the Red Bluff Buckin' Best bull rid- ing event finishing the day off starting at 7 p.m. Tickets for the Buckin' Best are $20 general admission pre-sale and $25 at the door, arena seating is $30 pre-sale and $35 at the door and VIP seating is $75 pre-sale and $80 at the door. Other events include a kick-off breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Don SmithPavilionandthetrade show and art show that kick off at noon Wednesday. A buyer's dinner, which in- cludes a youth raffle, starts at 6 p.m. Wednesday with a cost of $20 each and there is an art show reception 5-8 p.m. Thursday in the gem building.
