FUNDRAISER Dance to help fund veterans memorial wall Some low-down individ- ual, with a desire to ruin automobile tires, spread about two pounds of up- holstering tacks on the Oak street bridge, which crosses the Sacramento river, last night just after darkness set in. Joe Richardson picked up twenty or thirty of them on his small truck while crossing the bridge on his return from a trip across the river. Following him came the Los Molinos auto stage and this also picked up a large amount of the tacks, in fact so many that it ruined two tires on the hind wheels. Others crossing ran on the tacks. Later officers went over the bridge and picked up a large handful of them, in- cluding the box which held them in the first instance. This evidence was turned over to the sheriff's office and an investigation will be started today to try and find the miscreant. —Jan.17,1917 100 YEARS AGO...
