UCW: Who are the members and what instru- ments do they play? NM: Jeff Brown sings vocals, our guitar player is Scotty Guitar. We have Dave Miller on drums and Mitch Dennis plays bass UCW: Give us a brief history lesson on the band. When and where did you get started? NM: The band started in 2004 as Downfall. We had no real aspi- rations of going any where with it, we just wanted to play music. After opening a show for the great and legendary Motorjunkie, we started play- ing out more and more. When we started to write our own music that's when it hit us, we could actually do something with this. UCW: How did the band get its name? NM: After two or three singers we finally found mad man Jeff Brown from Waist Deep Madness, we took a good look around and thought this new machine we have here needs a new name, and it just kind of stuck. UCW: How would you define your music? NM: If Godsmack and Black Label Society had a baby, then put it up for adoption and it was raised by Pantera, its name would be New Machine. No make up, no whiney lyrics just down and dirty southern fried metal. UCW: Who are your favorite bands/influences on your music? NM: There are way too many to mention, but ... Sabbath, old Metallica, Ozzy, Skynrd, Led Zeppelin, Pantera, old Van Halen, Black Daliah, Hate Breed, Godsmack and Black Label Society UCW: Do you write your own music and where does that inspiration come from? NM: We do write and play our own music, and it just comes from all the bands we listen to. Just throw on some old Van Halen or something, slam a couple of cold ones and start jammin'! UCW: If you only had two words to describe your band what would they be? NM: Southern Metal !!!! UCW: What are your hopes/goals for the future of your band? NM: To do this as long as possible and to still have people diggin' it. UCW: Where do you see the band five years, 10 years from now? NM: Who knows, but we're pretty sure our ears will still be ringing the morning after. UCW: Where can Fayetteville music lovers check you in the near fu- ture? NM: People can see where we are going to be playing by checking us out at Myspace.com/fayettevillesnewmachine and they can go to Reverbnation.com/fayette- villesnewmachine, become a fan and you can download all of our music for free, and of course fans can also follow us on Twitter.
