NFL New York Giants at Philadel- phia Eagles: 5:20p.m., NFL. Ontheair endzone. Last Sunday, the 49ers sacked Ryan once, albeit at the line of scrimmage. While their 27 sacks are tied for 22nd-most in the league, opponents have lost only 142 yards in the process, the league's sec- ond-fewest total. Ahmad Brooks and DeForest Buck- ner lead the 49ers with five sacks each. • Colin Kaepernick has a 55.5 percent completion rate with 13 touchdown passes and three intercep- tions for a 86.6 rating. But Kaepernick's completion rate sinks after halftime, to 42.3 percent (63 of 149, 677 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT), and the 49ers haven's scored the past three games after halftime. Kelly attributes some of the drop off to, well, dropped passes. The 49ers are tied for the eight-most drops with 30, including 11 by their tight ends. "One thing you can't control sometimes is there are guys open and Colin is putting the ball on them and now we're not catch- ing the football," Kelly said. "We've got to probably do a better job of who we're get- ting in those situations and getting open to get them the ball so that we can con- tinue to stay on the field." • Carlos Hyde is 50 yards shy of his first 1,000-yard rushing season of his three-year career. His pre- decessor, Frank Gore, had 1,000-yard seasons in 8 of 9 years before the 49ers let their all-time leading rusher leave in free agency last year for the Indianap- olis Colts. Hyde is averaging 4.7 yards per carry with a ca- reer-high six touchdown runs. He ran for 470 yards last season before missing the final nine games with a foot fracture, and he had 333 yards as Gore's rookie backup in 2014. "Carlos is a lot healthier now since he's recovered from the (shoulder) injury in the Buffalo game," Kelly said. "... The more reps he gets at it, the more he sees it, the more comfortable he feels with it." • Safety Antoine Bethea won this year's Garry Niver Award, given by the San Francisco chapter of the Pro Football Writers of America for his profession- alism and cooperation with the media. • The Rams and 49ers have lost 19 of 20 games combined since Week 5. • Left tackle Joe Staley (hamstring) and wide re- ceiver Torrey Smith (con- cussion) remained out of practice. Also out with an ankle injury was cen- ter Marcus Martin, which could prompt Zane Bea- dles to make his first ca- reer start at center. • Tramaine Brock, Rashard Robinson and Keith Reaser will serve as the 49ers' top-three corner- backsSunday.JimmieWard suffered a season-ending broken collar bone, and de- fensive back Dontae John- son has a groin injury that's kept him from practicing. • Wide receiver Quinton Patton underwent surgery on a fractured foot, Kelly said. • The 49ers signed of- fensive lineman Andrew Gardner, a sixth-year vet- eran who played the past two seasons with the Phil- adelphia Eagles. Josh Al- len, an offensive lineman acquired off waivers last week, was waived. 49ers FROM PAGE 1 plowed in for the touch- down. The week before against the Buffalo Bills, they scored touchdowns on all three of their goal-to-go sit- uations, including two on the ground. It happened with relative ease too with Murray scoring on first down from the 1 and then from the 3. Overall, the Raiders have run well since Carr's injury, averaging 4.1 yards per carry. Take away the second half of the Carolina Panthers game in which he was hurt (.ie, when the Raiders had a chance to practice and get used to ex- clusively going from shot- gun) and Oakland's averag- ing 4.6 per attempt. "You're only as good as yourlastgame,"centerRod- neyHudsonsaid."Wedidn't score.We'llfixit.We'llcome in, I'm sure we can do some things better. We'll watch the tape and correct it. No matter what we're in, we'll just try to execute, no mat- ter if we're in the gun or un- der,asplayer,justtrytoexe- cute and take advantage of the opportunities." • A day after doing some work on the side, Raiders rookie outside linebacker Shilique Calhoun was back at practice on Wednesday. Calhoun has missed the past four games after hav- ing a minor knee proce- dure following an injury suffered Nov. 21 in Mexico City against the Houston Texans. • Defensive tackle Stacy McGee, who has missed five of the past seven games with an ankle in- jury, remains out of prac- tice. Same goes for rookie safety Karl Joseph, who seems poised to miss his third straight contest with a toe injury. Left guard Kel- echi Osemele also sat out Wednesday's practice with an ankle injury. • Linebacker Bruce Ir- vin was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week after recording six tackles and two sacks in the Raiders' 19-16 win over the Chargers. He also pres- sured and laid a hit on San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers that led to the game- sealing interception.
