BETA BETA CHAPTER of ALPHA PHI at MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY Fall 2016 The Ivy House Corporation Board Develops Master List of Chapter House Projects Summer Renovations Completed Just in Time for Move In I t was a busy summer at 616 M.A.C. We are extremely excited to have completed a major renovation this summer—providing contemporary, functional, and energy- efficient bathrooms; new paint and carpet in the hallways; and additional makeup areas throughout the second and third floors. All four bathrooms went down to the studs and were completely rebuilt with new plumbing, fixtures, and finishes. We began the project the day after move-out in May and the final touches were complete hours before the women moved in for the year. This project was an extreme undertaking in such a short time, and there are many people to thank—most notably House Corporation Board (HCB) Facilities Chairman Darcy Doebler Milliken'82. The bathroom renovations were funded by HCB savings. This project was a first step in our larger master plan that includes projects totaling $1 million. The HCB continues to discuss and prioritize future projects, including redecoration of the remaining public spaces and bedrooms as well as updating the landscaping. The largest project on the horizon is a potential renovation of the kitchen and dining area that would provide a new study area. The HCB takes pride in investing in and displaying historical memorabilia. We've started a project that includes collecting and framing composites that will be displayed in the second- and third-floor hallways. We need your help! If you have composites in your personal archives and would be willing to either donate them or allow us to make a copy, please e-mail msualphaphialumnae@gmail. com. We are looking for composites from the following years: 1950, 1953 to 54, 1959 to 1961, 1963 to 1993, 1995, and 2000 to 2012. Improved alumnae communication is a top priority for the HCB. We are committed to mailing newsletters each year, in addition to establishing an e-mail newsletter and Facebook page. We have reestablished a tradition of open house on Homecoming Saturday and are planning a spring brunch to celebrate graduating seniors. Contact msualphaphialumnae@gmail.com if you'd like to be added to our e-mail newsletter list. Please feel free to stop by the chapter house when you are on campus. We look forward to reconnecting.
