Chico Performances tickets Happy days are here again Cooler days, not much, however the air conditioner has worked well. It made us happier as we waited for the mail delivery to arrive with hopefully happy mail. The Mail Delivery person arrived during the hot afternoon and low and behold there was a happy note in the box. It was from the city of Los Angeles, California, from the Parking Viola- tions Bureau. Some readers may recall that we had a startling letter previously came to our mail box a few weeks before. The LA Violations Bureau had sent a message that we had left the Los Angeles city and had not paid our "wrong parking place," citation. Hey. We had not been to Los Ange- les at all ever and we did not have a white Honda with the same license as we have on our "red, Vibe." We promptly submitted a return letter with pictures that we did not own a white car and had never had any car in the city of LA. The new letter, sent to us thanked us for our inquiry concerning the citation listed. The following lines caused us to have a big, thankful sigh of relief! "An enforcement error has been found while conducting an adminis- trative review on this citation. Therefore, your citation (s) is/are being permanently dismissed No further action on your part is required. If payment has been made and you wish to request a refund, please sign this form and return it to the Parking Violations Bureau art The box office is on the corner of Second Street and Normal Avenue in Chico and is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. We found no need to request money in return but did feel a bit put upon as we had to pay six plus dollars to send a "Request Return" card to them. We have decided to The Chicken Shack was one of the most popular places to hang out when I was a teenager and later being a family, my husband and I added a number of visits to the famous coffee house. The food was great and the very best of all was the triangle shaped donuts made and sold at the Shack. The donuts required a triangle shaped machine, similar to a waffle machine. I remember loaning it to keep all our documenta- tion regarding our Los Angeles, CA Parking Violations Bureau in case they make another error. More happy occasions have brought us through the hot summer days. A great letter was sent to me e-mail from a lovely lady formerly a citizen of Red Bluff. She remem- bers a lot about the "Chicken Shack" former- ly the main place in Red Bluff that hosted many citizens of Red Bluff. Coffee time was always attended by many cof- fee sipping gentlemen and some coffee sipping women too. It was located on the corner of Main and Cedar Streets and was later burned down. Carolyn Barber Don Allen when his machine broke down, unfortunately Don could not seem to find it and return to me. I was pretty sad as it had been given to me by my broth- er, who purchased it for me in Ketchikan, Alaska. At any rate I am delighted to have heard from this former R.B. citi- zen and will be sending her a letter as soon as pos- sible. Yes, happy days are here again! Now the month of July as been a busy one with some family illness trying to wear us down, we have thus far put up a strong fight against any not so happy happenings. In addition hubby and I are looking forward to our 58th wed- ding anniversary on July 30, 2012. There were a few people who thought we could never last out our marriage, but they were wrong and we intend to continue have "blessed married bliss," for a while longer. Happy days are here again! make up their minds to be." Abraham Lincoln "People are just as happy as they Carolyn Barber has been writing her column in the Daily News since 1992.
