T hank you, alumni, for coming back to Rolla for Homecoming. It was a success all around and many memories were made. Our current pledge class utilized this year's outhouse burning as a fundraiser, selling swings to break apart the construct. These funds will be used at the end of their pledgeship to purchase a house gift. Gifts from recent years include new bathroom vanities, dining room tables and chairs, and a new house TV. This fall, Alpha Iota hosted our big brotherhood event for the semester at a farm in Dixon. The weather was perfect for bonding over a bonfire while chowing down on barbecue and camping out. It was a beneficial weekend for the chapter. Josh Williams '17, a mining engineering major, worked a haunted mine event in October. Funds raised help send students in the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration to their annual conferences. The event is also used to collect canned goods to be donated to the Russel House. The entire chapter hit the road for the adopt-a- highway community service event picking up trash for a mile-long stretch along Highway BB. At the Rolla Apartments, the chapter raked leaves, washed windows, and helped with various other projects. On chilly day in October, Chris Gibbs '17, Matthew Caldwell '18, Peter Wolf '17, and Connor Chadbourne '19 distributed hot chocolate to the campus community. They visited with potential new members, adding them to the chapter's spring recruitment contact list. If you are ever in Rolla, we hope you stop by the house. The door is always open!
