Sterling Gillikin Jr., center, received his Veteran's Emblem for his 50 years as a Mason, 30 of them as secretary of the lodge. Edwards, left, of French Broad 292 was honored with his Diamond Jubilee award for 60 years membership on October 15. The 92-year-old took all three of his de- grees in a span of 16 days in 1956 with his father as his coach. He remains an active participant in the lodge. Grand Lecturer John Burchfield, right, made the presentation. BISCOE — J. C. Brewer, center, of Biscoe 437, recently got his Veteran's Emblem for 50 years membership. Twenty-fourth District Deputy Grand Master Don Bulla presented the award with a hand from Master Kevin McNeill. — Carl Brown HILLSBOROUGH — Eagle 19 gave a birthday surprise to William Winecoff, left, in September. Members of the lodge gave him a special past master's apron. They report that Winecoff is "invaluable [to the lodge] as a coach, a ritualist, and master of the grill. He sees things that need to be done and takes care of them without fanfare. Bill also led the renovation of Eagle's lodge room in 2009 during his year as master."
