Monday - Friday, 9am – 3pm by Jane Finley writer * artist * teacher (stretching, exercise, relaxation, meditation) Life as a River If you think of yourself as a river, you fl ow along, actively watching what the universe has put in your path. There are some things you will want to avoid. With others, you will pause a while, encircle, perhaps caress, and then move on. The length of time will vary, as will the ease of leave taking. Seattle, Washington Jane's book is WANDERINGS: Living the Ordinary Extraordinarily (Stories from the Road). This column consists of poems from the book (email: janefi nley@yahoo.com, website: janefi nley.com). Poems from the road The duo "Wait for What?!" is perform- ing at the Quartzsite Improvement As- sociation (QIA), 235 East Ironwood, on December 13th from 7pm until 9pm. It is T David and Elane Wiggin's fi rst concert in the Quartzsite area and is a must see show! "Wait for What?!" is well known around New Mexico and Texas for their musician- ship, song selection, and comedy. T David is an outstanding guitarist and when you add Elane's vocals, it is now a party. He calls their music New Grass since he adds a bluegrass fl avor to some old favorites. T David was born into music. HIs mother, Sarah Wiggins was a folk singer in the '60s, singing with the likes of Lightnin' Hopkins, Guy Clark, KT Oslin, and many more. As a child, T David frequently walked into their kitchen in Bellaire, Texas (a suburb of Houston) where he encountered these now famous musicians jamming. Be- ing surrounded by music infl uenced him and encouraged him to pick up a guitar early on in his life. T David started playing and writing music as a young man; at the age of 18 some of his original songs were used for a PBS special about the Plains In- dians. In addition, in the 80's he won the Rock the Robin Recording con- test for sound recording. David is no stranger to the music scene; he has been playing and writing music for over 40 years. The Wiggins had been married 7 years and were busy raising their fam- ily when, while attending a bluegrass picking, David heard Elane sing. He was shocked and delighted because he didn't even know she could sing. Elane laughed it off by saying "I have been busy raising children"! Once the kids were raised, they moved to the Sacramento Mountains from Buffalo Gap, TX where T David played lead guitar in a rock band. A year later they started practicing in the studio of their home, where T David learned that Elane was also a drummer. "Wait for What?!" came into being at that moment. The unique name of the duo has an interesting story. While playing in the studio, a daily ritual, Elane said, "We need to make a set list because we have a show on Saturday night." T David was shocked and thought they should wait. Elane said, "Wait for What?" and the rest is history. "Wait for What?!" has been performing ev- ery weekend since 2012. The duo also performs at the Inn of the Mountain Gods Casino in Ruidoso, NM on a monthly basis. Attendees will experience T David on guitar, mandolin, harmonica and vo- cals, as well as his songwriting skills with Elane's voice and percussion. The duo has 2 CDs with a third one in the works expected to drop in the Spring of 2017. They travel around the United States in their tour bus playing music as full time profession- al musicians.
