SUCCESSFUL FALL RECRUITMENT This fall we kicked off the school year with our Steel City Pops event at the flagpole to introduce fall recruitment and welcome the Mustangs back to campus. We hosted a tea party at the house for potential new members to get to know more chapter women. Our fall recruitment concluded with a painting party at the house that many had the chance to enjoy. We then welcomed five new women to our chapter. Formal recruitment is coming up on January 19-22, and we are so excited to announce the addition of sisterhood day in replacement of skit day, and our plans on creating a video to show to all the potential new members. MOONBALL EVENT RAISES $3,300 The Alpha Xi Chapter recently hosted the first Moonball philanthropic event. We hosted a three-on-three basketball tournament where 14 teams participated. We received great feedback from the participants and are looking forward to the next event. We are proud to say we were able to raise $3,300 toward Girls on the Run. ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE REMAINS A HIGH VALUE Staying true to our values of labor and learning, our scholarship committee regularly reviews academic performance in order to find avenues for both individual and chapter-wide growth. Our latest focus has been to promote scholarship alongside sisterhood through weekly study sessions where members have the opportunity to connect with other members taking similar courses or review with a sister who can tutor them in a judgement-free zone; snacks included! We will also be hosting our first Gamma Phi Scholar's Brunch in December to recognize members' outstanding academic achievements. Sisterhood is all about building one another up, and through events like these, we can both inspire and celebrate academic success. Here are some of our academic highlights: • Sisters who received 4.0s last semester: 7 • Sisters who received above a 3.75: 25, which is more than 25% of the chapter • Sisters who made the university honor roll/ dean's list:18 • Sisters double majoring: 36, which is 40% of the chapter It's been an exciting fall semester and we are already looking forward to the spring and welcoming in our next class of Alpha Xi members. Please feel free to stop by the chapter house anytime you are on campus. We love hearing stories from alumnae and showcasing our sisterhood. Gamma Phi Beta | 3 Getting ready to cheer on our Mustangs.
