Theta Techsan 7 We Asked… What Are Your Favorite Undergraduate Memories? I remember when Nationals came on the campus. My mother and her three friends started Sans Souci, which became Theta. When I became a member she became an alumna. -Nan Wiginton Clayton '53 Sing Song, Homecoming parades, Texas Tech joining the Southwest Conference in 1958. -Nancy Jo Mankins Hubbard '59 Piling into Carlyn Grau's car (overloaded) to go to the lodge on Broadway for chapter meetings! Very few members had cars. -Susan Reynolds Petty '59 Skits and charity work/group activities. My sisters gave me unconditional love and support as I competed and won Miss Lubbock. I believe their cheers helped me win. -Ja'Ree Harper Ayala '95 All things Theta! Date parties! Rush! Football games! Studying for finals at the lodge! -Dana Althaus Hahn '04 Theta Thursdays, '80s prom, and football games with my Theta sisters! -Bennett Haines Maggio '07 Moving to the new lodge on Greek Circle after the old lodge on Broadway was blown away by the tornado in May 1971! Sing Song (now University Sing, I believe)— Thetas won Sweepstakes in 1970, '71, and '72! -Melinda Mackay Shanklin '70 Chapter retreats to New Mexico and living near Theta sisters in the dorm. -Carlyn Grau Poole '59 Making lifetime friends with some of my pledge class. -Jane Falkenberg Joseph '64 I love thinking back on the meetings and rush parties at the chapter house on Broadway. And we had a front row seat for Homecoming parades on Broadway! -Susan Evans Sparkman '66 Work and rush weeks were some of the best memories. I loved spending time with sisters in the house and all the laughs we shared. -Wesley Polk Lucas '06 I loved going to Tech football tailgates and games with other Thetas. I also loved all the date parties and had so much fun dressing up for all the different themes. Serving as the CFO for Theta was very challenging at times, yet rewarding because I learned a lot about Theta as an organization and developed close friendships with many of the other members. -Rachel Edwards '11 Big/little reveal, football games, chapter. -Colleen Roberts '11
