2 Beta Tau Connsktion O n September 18, we welcomed hundreds of sisters, family and friends, and fellow Greeks to our new home during our Beta Tau Chapter House Grand Opening event. The celebration kicked-off with a ribbon cutting ceremony on the front porch; where the house corporation board, advisory board, and executive council came together to formally open our new home. Upon entering, guests could see the grand staircase opening gracefully to a marble entry dotted with flowers for the occasion. The first floor boasts many sitting areas, a laptop bar, conference room, craft room, and guest suite. Current collegian sisters took visitors on tours of the second and third floors. Bedrooms smartly decorated to individual themes gave visitors a peek into our fantastically diverse sisterhood. Each sleeping floor has amenities including a TV lounge area, kitchenette, laundry room, and study room. The second floor houses Sigma Kappa sisters in the traditional communal living style – double rooms with central shared baths. The third floor has suite style living with both double and single room options with in-suite baths. The event continued with a catered brunch in the dining area that seats 150 for meals, 250 for chapter events, and has a modern serving line for ease at such meals. Our awards program was hosted in the dining room with speeches given by officers and letters read by National Housing Corporation Coordinator of New Housing Mary Ann Spangler Lattimore, Gamma Phi '78, North Carolina State University, on behalf of Sigma Kappa National President Sara Seely Chacon, Gamma Alpha '00, University of Northern Colorado, and National Housing President Susan Willis, Epsilon Epsilon '87, University of Georgia. There were so many great moments throughout the day: many reunions over brunch or in halls while touring, legacies playing yard games while others looked to their bricks inlaid in the back courtyard, trading sorority memories and history on couches, and an overwhelmingly jubilant atmosphere. It was a heart-warming experience to be able to be a part of and help to host. Article written by Cara Huntley '08 Beta Tau Celebrates New House with Dedication Event
