What better way to enhance our Sigma Nu experience and entice ambitious future recruits than utilizing the vast chasm of alumni career experiences. As the alumni relations officer, I am seeking out alumni willing to share their industry perspective through a new Nu Chapter Career Advisory Network in four popular fields of study: • Accounting • Finance/Banking • Pre-Med • Engineering By joining the network, all we ask is you make yourself accessible to collegiate members who may seek you out for career insights, advice, and contacts. Once a year, we want to host a panel discussion at the house for each career field so alumni and actives can become more connected and engaged. If you have relevant experience and perspective in any of these fields, please join our new network by contacting me at bradballou13@gmail.com. Fraternally, Brad Ballou '15, Nu 2386 Alumni Relations Officer since 1998. This award reflects the outstanding determination and consistency displayed by all members. We hope that you share our sense of pride in receiving such a prestigious award. Last semester, Nu Chapter upheld its tradition of academic excellence, posting a collective 3.44 GPA, one of the best on the Hill. This year, we are working to match that feat. One way we are pursuing this is through the development of a growing mentorship program. Through this initiative, active brothers help our candidates adapt to college courses, providing tips and help with classes similar to those they have taken. Candidates are able to gain a better understanding of their coursework and desired field of study. At the same time, the chapter is able to monitor academics closely, providing more personalized support when necessary. With this program continuing to develop and mesh with our already established academics-first values, I am confident Nu Chapter will live up to its academic standards and fulfill our goal of being a top chapter on campus. We recently hosted our fall brotherhood retreat where the chapter took a day to go paintballing. It was not only a great time, but it also promoted teamwork and strategy. The day brought the candidate class closer to the active chapter and the active chapter closer together. We look forward to continuing this tradition. Nu Chapter asCeNdiNg to New heights (Continued from page 3) House Happenings I t is with heartfelt gratitude that I thank the Sigma Nus for all the support bestowed upon me throughout this last year while receiving some medical treatment. The prayers, calls, notes, thoughts, good wishes, and Mom Molly were so appreciated, and I needed them—I was so bored! I will also never forget the considerate and generous donation made to the LMH Oncology Unit in my honor (and not in my memory!). I am so exuberant for the guys winning the Rock Chapter award. In fact, I feel queenly enough to brag about them. I have quietly watched them go about their business for some time. They have grown more conscious of their goals even as challenges presented themselves. Their loyalty to one another and Sigma Nu expands daily. Their attitudes toward everything they have done proved memorable as they have put all their grit, spirit, heart, and integrity into the pride they carry for this fraternity. They have challenged themselves, and they have won. I could not ask for a more respectful, considerate group of young men. The memories I am making will stay forever in my heart. However, most of that has to do with Phil and Stan keeping them happy with "three squares a day." I want to give one more major thank you to the alumni for redoing the floors in my apartment and for thoroughly cleaning it so I could come home. I am enjoying it so much, and I hope everyone (unless you are sick) will feel welcome to come inside and take a peek. Rock Chalk!
