TheAssociatedPress REDDING A California woman abducted while jogging was branded by two female captors who kept their faces covered during the three weeks they held her, a sheriff said Wednesday in seeking the public's help to solve a crime that has riveted and un- nerved the community. The Spanish-speaking suspects also kept the head of 34-year- old victim Sherri Papini covered at times, limiting her ability to provide descriptions so authori- ties could draw sketches, Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko said at a news conference. The abductors may have been trying to humiliate and wear down Papini by branding her and cutting off her long hair, Bosenko told "Good Morning America" (http://abcn.ws/2gx7urR ). Nicholas William Hunt, 23, and John Eldon Wood, Jr., 21, crashed on Interstate 5 near Wilcox Road following a pursuit that started near Nicklaus Avenue. A Tehama County Sheriff's Deputy was help- ing in the recovery of another sto- len vehicle at the time. While on patrol, the deputy located a 1999 silver two-door Honda Civic reported stolen to Red Bluff Police about 11:30 p.m. Monday from the Meadow Vista Apartments in the 700 block of Vista Way. Alexander Isaacson, 20, pled guilty on Oct. 14 to the charge of engaging in lewd or lascivious behavior with a minor, arraign- ing a time to meet with a minor and participating in an act of sod- omy with a person who is under 18 years of age. Of the four men charged in the crime, Thomas Seagraves, 22, of Red Bluff was sentenced to six years in state prison on Oct. 31, according to a Tehama County Superior Court Clerk. Two others await sentencing. Judge Matthew McGlynn ac- cepted the recommendation from the probation department and said he had read all the reports filed on Nov. 21 by the probation department as well as the letters of reference on behalf of Isaacson. An assessment test was con- ducted on Nov. 25 by a doctor to determine the risk level that the four men would repeat the crime. Isaacson was assigned level one, meaning he is a very low risk. During sentencing Wednesday, an attorney said at least two of the other men involved in the crime scored a level 3, meaning they are at high risk of repeating the offense. McGlynn said Isaacson did ex- press remorse for his actions and the relationship didn't start as a predatory relationship. "We appreciate our commu- nity getting behind this project and a program that is making such a difference in the com- munity, which makes the com- munity a better place," said PATH board member and Pro- gram Adviser Colleen Lewis. The house recently received 22 windows, a $12,000 value, donated by Sierra Pacific In- dustries, Lewis said. "We're just pleased to be a part of the project," said Sierra Pacific Community Relations Manager Mark Lathrop. "They told us their utility bill is about $1,000 a month and if this can even make a few hundred dol- lars' difference by being bet- ter insulated it will help. We're happy to be here and the com- munity pulling together is the best part of this deal." Lewis said she is grateful for the donation, but sees it as more than just a one-time gift. "I look at it as a monthly do- nation to us in the never end- ing savings we get, which can go back into the program to help those who come through the house," Lewis said.
