ByPaulElias TheAssociatedPress SAN FRANCISCO The husband of a California mother who went missing for three weeks said his wife was covered with bruises and burns and was chained at the waist and wrists when she was found on Thanksgiving. In a written statement to "Good Morning America" (http://abcn. ws/2g1etbY), Keith Papini also addressed social media chatter doubting his wife's story of ab- duction and assault. "Rumors, assumptions, lies, and hate have been both exhaust- ing and disgusting," he wrote. "I understand people want the story, pictures, proof that this was not some sort of hoax, plan to gain money, or some fabricated race war. I do not see a purpose in ad- dressing each preposterous lie." Deputies responded to a resi- dence on Mary Avenue at 10 p.m. Sunday regarding a 16-year-old boy who had been stabbed several times. According to updated in- formation released Tuesday, the boy is expected to re- cover from his in- juries. The boy had ob- vious injuries to his head and neck and claimed they were inflicted by an unknown man wielding a knife, according to a press re- lease issued Monday by the Te- hama County Sheriff's Office. Through investigating the case deputies learned that another per- son, Efren Castillo, 18, was kidnapped by the same assail- ants accused of stabbing the boy Sunday. The sus- pects were identi- fied as Marco An- tonio Oveido, 18, and Esteban Avila Esquivel, 35, both of Corning. Castillo's whereabouts were unknown, according to the re- lease. His received a telephone call a few hours later from the suspects demanding money for the safe return of Castillo, how- ever, no specific directives were given. Castillo has since been re- turned safely to his family. Deputies learned that a vehicle was stolen from the scene Sunday and put out an area broadcast to allied agencies in Shasta, Butte and Glenn counties to assist in searching for the vehicle. Early Monday morning officers from the Orland Police Depart- ment advised they had recently seen the vehicle in Orland, the release said. The Orland Police Department, along with Glenn County Sheriff's Office, Willows Police Department and Glenn County California Highway Pa- trol, began a search for the ve- hicle on 99W south of Orland, where it had been spotted earlier. The event will showcase a re- cent donation by Jones and her husband Don — a silver punch bowl that was connected to Jones Jewelry, which was run by their family. "They are the former own- ers of the store and many local brides registered there, which allowed them to use this punch bowl at their wedding," Wilson said. "The punch bowl was used in over 200 weddings in North- ern California over the years." The event will include an opportunity drawing in which participants have the chance to win a $150 gas card and a $150 gift card for A&R Cus- tom Butchering. The museum is continuing to raise funds for the restoration of the building. The museum is always seek- ing volunteers and available for tours 1-4 p.m. Thursdays and Sundays with the last tour beginning at 3 p.m. for a sug- gested donation of $5 per per- son.
