MU NEWS Χ Ω Mu Chapter of Chi Omega at the University of California-Berkeley Fall 2016 Undergraduate Sisters Reach New Heights This Year Mu Welcomes 65 New Members and Maintains High GPA • SISTERS ATTEND NATIONAL CONVENTION • Mu chapter was well represented at this summer's Chi Omega National Convention in Orlando, Fla. We had a delegation of 11 women in attendance, including chapter officers, advisors, and corporation board members. We had a great time attending workshops, meeting the Supreme Governing Council, and witnessing the unveiling of the new branding and tagline, #sisterson- purpose! • WELCOMED 65 NEW MEMBERS • Mu had an incredible start to this school year, with an exceptional fall recruitment, led by Recruitment Chairman Kaylee Suarez '15. We were lucky to have welcomed a record-breaking 65 new members into our sisterhood with a '70s-themed Bid Day, complete with cosmic bowl- ing in San Francisco. • LEADERS IN OUR COMMUNITY AND THE CLASSROOM • We are so proud of sister Frances McGinley '15 for being selected as our campus' academic affairs vice president. This is a great honor, and we are excited to see all of the wonderful things she will accomplish during her term. We are also proud of sisters Alexandra Origenes '15 and Maggie Shaw '15 for representing our chapter on Panhellenic Council this year. Mu has continued to show that we truly do place scholarship before social obligation. This spring, our chapter had a GPA of 3.53, the highest we have achieved in nearly a decade. • WHAT'S AHEAD FOR MU • We are so excited for our annual sisterhood retreat, an outdoorsy day at Tilden Park and Lake Anza; our next social event, a formal date night in San Francisco; our upcoming scholarship and career networking dinners; and the slating of our next executive board! To our wonderful alumnae, please feel free to stop by the chapter house anytime. We would love to give you a house tour, or have you over for dinner or brunch. Hope to see you soon!
