Nearly $90,000 in Upgrades Made to Shelter House Corporation Has Several Projects Still to Be Funded as Required by the University 2 016 was a big year in terms of improvements to the Shelter. Thanks to both the generous support of alumni and the undergraduates for contributions to the facility reserve, the House Corporation dedicated almost $90,000 to Shelter maintenance and upgrades. Among larger projects, recently completed maintenance included: • A complete upgrade to the fire alarm system of the Shelter, accompanied by a full design study. This project was mandated by Cornell. • New steps for the front porch. • A new front patio, which shows off our letters and plaques. • Maintenance to the radiators. • A new refrigerator for the kitchen. Cornell has informed the chapter of additional work that will be necessary, so significant fundraising and undergraduate contributions to the facility reserve are still needed to fund these improvements. The House Corporation is committed to undertaking the necessary and desirable upgrades to the Shelter and ensuring that DTD maintains its presence on Cornell's campus for the next 125 years. If you have any questions about the House Corporation's finances or recent and upcoming improvement and maintenance projects please contact me.
