I hope that this edition of the Cordelt finds you and your family well and enjoying a great fall and football season. I am happy to report that the undergraduates have had one of their most successful fall recruitments in recent memory and will be welcoming eight new men into the brotherhood later this fall. This is a great sign of the growth of the chapter and the work the undergraduates have undertaken to put increased membership at the top of their priority list. Beta Omicron celebrated its 126th Homecoming on The Hill, and we had yet another successful event. The kitchen crew was back in charge of dinner, led by House Corporation Secretary Jeffrey Catalano '09 and Tom Sweda '82 and served well over 100 Delts and their guests. During our annual meeting, which was led by Vice President Jeff Alfano '13, the House Corporation passed a resolution to create a new mentorship program led by Jason Saltsberg '94 and Young Hur '11. They are looking for alumni volunteers to help with the new program, which will aim to provide both professional mentorship and mentorship by position to the undergraduates. If you wish to participate, please e-mail anyone on the House Corporation board and we will put you in touch with Jason and Young. Another item that was passed during the annual House Corporation meeting was to explore creating an alumni group to head up technology, specifically as it relates to our website and other online presence. As we all know, we live in a world dominated by the digital format, and if we want to remain relevant and easily accessible to all members, we need to update our website to be a leading example of fraternities in the 21st century. If you have any interest in participating in this group, please e-mail me directly as we will be starting this work soon. On a personal note, this was the first Homecoming since I joined Delta Tau Delta in the spring of 2005 that I was unable to attend, and it has given me time to reflect on what Beta Omicron means to me. As I wait for my first child to arrive, I was saddened to not be on campus celebrating yet another successful year with my brothers. I was glad to hear of all the successes the chapter has had in the past year and was glad that the alumni and undergraduates are both pushing our executive board to serve them better. I also wondered whether in 18 years my son or any of our sons would have the opportunity to join Beta Omicron when they enter college. Will we continue to prosper? Will our membership continue to grow? Will the Shelter be the same edifice that we all know? Or will it be a dilapidated ruin at the corner of Campus and Stewart? These are all questions that will only be answered by time; however, we as alumni and undergraduates will help shape these answers. As such, I ask you take a minute to reflect on what Beta Omicron has meant to you and what you can do to ensure it is there for the next generation of Delts. Volunteering for one of the new groups we've begun, donating funds, or even simply paying your dues all help immensely. Remember, these choices will not impact you as greatly as they will impact those who follow in your footsteps.
