We have two children. After I discovered her infidelity, she came home crying and admit- ted everything. She was also very surprised at how I handled it. I didn't yell, curse or demand anything. I tried just asking the right ques- tions with the right tone. This allowed her to be more forthcoming. She wants to make our relationship work and is leaving her job since that guy is still there, to try to smooth out our situation. I told her we need to talk more and for her to stop holding in emotions and try to talk to me like how I was talking to her when I caught her. It's been almost a month now since she got caught, and we have been talking more and she has been listening to me, es- pecially when I get those irritating thoughts of what she did, which helps alleviate my frustration. I've seen much im- provement. She really wants our relationship to continue, but she stresses the fact that she does not want me to retaliate. Do you think this is something that can be repaired? I really want to make this work, but I'm scared. What will happen when she starts her new job? What if a guy sweeps her off her feet and she de- cides to do this again? —Worried DEAR WORRIED » You and your partner are demon- strating that it is possible to recover from an affair if both parties deal with it by being honest, and by making big changes. Her decision to leave her job is a good one. It is necessary for her to leave the orbit of her affair partner. Your choice to remain calm and to listen is ideal. You may see your relationship improve. You have work to do, too. It doesn't seem fair, but in order to recover, you will simply have to make a choice to trust her. Trust is a choice. DEAR AMY » "Distrustful and Angered Neighbor" had a party with a lot of teenagers who downed a few beers. Some idiotic neighbor turned them in. Obviously you have issues, Amy, because your answer reflected your own narrow-minded views about alcohol. Your nannying is not needed. — Disgusted DEAR DISGUSTED » Yes, I do have issues. My issues with underage drinking have to do with car crash- es being the leading cause of death for teenagers. Ac- cording to statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administra- tion, there were almost 10,000 alcohol-related fatalities in 2014. Underage drinking is illegal, and parents who permit or promote it are irresponsible. On another note, if these parents had been polite enough to notify neighbors in advance that there would be a large outdoor party bordering their property, the neighbors might have been less inclined to turn them in. NEACrossword Sagittarius(Nov.23-Dec. 21) — You need to take charge if things aren't going your way. You are responsible for your life and happiness. Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19) — Avoid being predictable. Taking a unique approach to a project or how you deal with others will give you the edge you need to stay on top. Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Good fortune will depend on common sense. Listen to your inner voice. Don't disparage an idea until you take a closer look and determine its merit. Pisces (Feb. 20-March 20) — Creative accounting will help you avoid a hefty penalty. Help a cause because you believe in it, not because you are looking for something in return. Aries (March 21-April 19) — You must keep secrets to yourself in order to avoid dis- cord. Unsettled situations will escalate if you don't put out any fire that's smoldering. Taurus (April 20-May 20) — Share your concerns with someone you respect. A unique approach to an old idea may solve a problem initially, but in the long term it isn't likely to put you in a favorable position. Gemini (May 21-June 20) — Keep your eye on a position that interests you. Take a different approach to getting what you want. Someone you find inter- esting will touch you emotion- ally. Listen carefully before you agree with someone's words. Cancer (June 21-July 22) — A trip will be enlightening. Shar- ing your thoughts and feelings will break down barriers that have held you back in the past. Romance is highlighted and will improve your life. Leo (July 23-Aug. 22) — An emotional issue is best dealt with in an unorthodox way. Not everyone will like your decision, but you have to do what's best for yourself. Don't hesitate — make your move. Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22) — Make changes to your residence or remove yourself from a situation that isn't in your best interest. Take charge of your life and take care of your emotional and physical health. Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 23) — Ponder what's available to you and whom you want to collabo- rate with. Make decisions rather than accepting what someone else wants you to do. Scorpio (Oct. 24-Nov. 22) — Back away if someone tries to pry into your affairs. Offering minimal information will help you avoid an unstable situation and dispute. Sort out your feel- ings before getting involved in something.
