On August 26, 2005, he was severely injured in a motorcycle accident atop Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, Tenn., which resulted in a near-death experience and a traumatic brain injury that forever changed his life. It was his good fortune that an ER doctor and his RN wife was behind him when the accident happened. "While I struggle daily with some short-term memory issues, I am blessed to be a fully functioning member in society. God is good!" E-mail: bigcatrat@aol.com John F. Cheney '80 and his wife, Debbie, retired in May. His future plans include coaching high school volleyball in Dothan and other things that retirees do: golf, spending time with grandchildren, afternoon naps, yardwork, Harley Davidson trips, summer baseball trips, and more.
