ALPHA OMICRON CHAPTER OF ALPHA DELTA PI AT OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY FALL 2016 The Alpha Delta Pi Announces $1 Million Campaign Plans to Rebuild House Underway, More than $600,000 Committed T he Alpha Omicron house has always felt like home to us. We are thankful for our friendships with Alpha Omicron sisters, for the leadership development that helped us become successful community members, and for the numerous opportunities gained through our Alpha Delta Pi membership. We still remember, as we're sure you do, the great times we had together at the Chapter house and the memories we created. Chapter House Shows Age In 2021, Alpha Omicron will celebrate 100 years, our centennial, at Oklahoma State University. Since our current Chapter house was dedicated in 1953, 1309 W. University Avenue has been an integral part of Alpha Omicron's legacy. But, as you can imagine, our 63-year-old Chapter house is showing its age, and no longer meets the needs of our members. Safety of our more than 200 members is our top priority, as well as meeting and dining space to accommodate our entire membership. The 1920s wing of our home is a sinking structure and has antiquated wiring and plumbing, as well as aging mechanical issues. In our current home, we do not have a room large enough for our members to dine together, hold chapter meetings, and its challenging to find the space to hold initiation for such large Alpha classes. $1 Million Campaign Announced Given these immediate needs, the House Corporation (HC) Board, led by President Teresa Colpitts Smith '80, and a capital campaign committee with representation from every era, is proud to announce the Pride in Our Past, Building Our Legacy capital campaign to secure our continued success at Oklahoma State University. This campaign will allow Alpha Delta Pi to rebuild our Chapter house at our current location on University Avenue, maintain the historical and architectural characteristics of the existing house, meet the needs of today's students, and remain competitive on campus among other sororities and fraternities who are completing renovations and rebuilds. Alpha Delta Pi alumnae are proud of the location of our home and we're excited to create new memories at the new Alpha Omicron house; which we plan to break ground on in May 2019. More than $600,000 Raised so Far Early commitments from 108 generous alumnae, undergraduates, and friends total more than $600,000. This is a great start, but we need your help to reach and exceed our campaign goal of $1 million. Our total project cost is more than $8 million. The House Corporation is debt free and plans to save an additional $1 million in cash to go toward closing costs. A total of $2 million in cash at closing is needed toward our mortgage. (Continued on page 6) A new Chapter house is needed to accommodate growing membership Each and every dollar raised over our campaign goal will help reduce the burden of debt when we are complete. This is the time to remember your Alpha Delta Pi experience. Remember what impact our sorority had on you, and think about how your life has been affected by your membership and your sisters. It is only through the lifelong bonds of Alpha Delta Pi sisterhood that future generations may share the same experience. We need you now more than ever! New House Details In the new Alpha Omicron house, we will provide our members with a modernized facility that will help our Chapter maintain a competitive edge on campus while creating a safe home away from home for all Chapter members, and a home that all Alpha Delta Pi alumnae can be proud to call their own. Newcomb AE architects have been retained to complete the development of our new facility. Some of the new Chapter house highlights include: v Large Chapter room with high ceilings, audiovisual equipment, and ritual storage that will also double as a safe room. This is an imperative part of our new facility as Chapter meetings are currently being conducted on campus as there isn't enough room in our existing house. v Increase sleeping capacity from 58 women to 78-85 women. v New heating and cooling, plumbing, and electrical systems for greater efficiency and temperature regulation to accommodate the size of the house and address safety issues. v Large dining room to accommodate our membership. Our current dining room has space for less than half of our undergraduate members, so not everyone has the opportunity to participate in formal dinners. v New plumbing for bathrooms, showers, and vanity space on the second and third floors. v Private guest suite with a full bathroom that will meet ADA requirements. v Spacious study room, lounge space, and executive board meeting room.
