PAge 3 BeTA TheTA Pi T he Zeta Phi Chapter of Beta Theta Pi has had a successful past semester in campus involvement, grades, and intramurals. Our members continue to participate in a range of organizations across campus, including volunteering and hosting philanthropic events, and we are excited to welcome a strong new member class. ACADEMiC ACCOLADES At the Greek Honors Night awards banquet last fall, the Zeta Phi Chapter was awarded the Interfraternity Council (IFC) Chapter Award for GPA Excellence. This award signifies that Zeta Phi has the highest GPA among the other IFC groups on campus, and came with a $500 prize. The chapter has put the award money toward the Paul Miltenberger Scholarship, which honors Brother Paul Miltenberger '17, who passed away a year and a half ago. We continued our tradition of excellence in academics during the spring semester by achieving a 3.541 GPA, making us first in grades among the Greek community. Additionally, we also took the crown in intramurals, which was the first time in a while that we have placed first. GiVinG BACK Giving back to the Columbia community remains top of mind for the chapter. Beta Bowl, our annual philanthropic event, took place in September and all proceeds went to support the Boys and Girls Club of Columbia. We look forward to hosting more philanthropic events throughout the year. RECRUiTinG TOP MEn Our recruitment efforts this fall have once again produced a new member class to be proud of as 40 men join the new member class of 2020. New Member Educator Jacob Young '17 had this to say about our new brothers: "I am impressed by the efforts put forth by the new members thus far. We are excited to have a new class of potential members, and we cannot wait to see what they have to offer to the chapter house and to campus." THAnKinG OUR ADViSOR The chapter's continued success would not be possible without our amazing alumni support. Recently, Chapter Advisor Dave Spence '79 was inducted into the Zeta Phi Hall of Fame. It is a much-deserved award and we appreciate all he does to better our chapter. As the year continues, Zeta Phi is determined to stay in our current position with grades and intramurals. Our relationship between alumni and members is strong, which is something that is and will always be cherished. We hope to see many of you when you visit Columbia. Feel free to stop by the house and meet our newest members! She shared that the chapter's support meant a lot to her. Chapter members accept the University of Missouri IFC Gold Academic Achievement Banner, in recognition of their spring semester GPA of 3.356.
