Beta Sigma Showcases Alumnae History
E
arlier this year, I discovered a cache of
misplaced scrapbooks circa 1948-1980.
Throughout the summer, I viewed them all—savoring
every page. These snapshots capture moments in our
chapter's history, preserved for future generations to
discover, as I did.
• Did you know Beta Sigma was the 50th Sigma
Kappa chapter?
• Or…did you know Judy Smith Myers '58 was
the first female Grand Prix cart driver in 1959
at the second annual Purdue Grand Prix with an
all-female pit crew of Beta Sigma sisters?
The one constant reinforced by these photos, stories,
and memorabilia is our foundational spirit, which has
remained alive and strong! Each new academic year
brings continuity; an affirmation of our future. In the
spirt of discovery, we are including as many alumnae
updates and photos as possible in this issue of Visions
of Violets. Keep those updates and stories coming and
don't forget to include photos.
Reconnect. Laugh as much as possible and live life
fully. Live with heart!
