Scobee's tender would have been worth $2.88 mil- lion for 2012. His new deal is worth $3.45 million annual- ly, with $4.75 million guar- anteed. There are $400,000 worth of incentives Scobee could reach. Oakland's Sebastian 49ers safety Dashon Gold- son, $6.2 million; Redskins tight end Fred Davis, $5.446 million; Browns placekicker Phil Dawson, $3.8 million; and Bengals PK Mike Nugent, one year, $2.6 mil- lion. None of them will be a pauper in 2012. Janikowski ($4 million annually) and Phil Dawson ($3.81 million) are the only kickers scheduled to make more than Scobee in 2012. His new deal tops recent ones signed by Tampa Bay's Connor Barth ($3.3 million) and Denver's Matt Prater ($3.25 million), who both were franchised. Altogether, 12 players landed long-term contracts, led by the Saints giving quar- terback Drew Brees the rich- est annual deal in NFL histo- ry. The 2011 Offensive Play- er of the Year signed a five- year, $100 million agree- ment; only Buffalo DE Mario Williams has gotten that much money, and his deal is for six years. Players who are stuck with their one-year tenders are Lions defensive end Cliff Avril, $10.6 million tender; Falcons cornerback Brent Grimes, $10.2 million; Patri- ots wide receiver Wes Welk- er and Chiefs receiver Dwayne Bowe, $9.5 million; Cowboys linebacker Antho- ny Spencer, $8.8 million; Arizona DE Calais Campbell received the next most lucrative deal (five years, $55 million), followed by Eagles wideout DeSean Jackson (five years, $51 mil- lion). Colts defensive end Robert Mathis got a four- year, $36 million deal, with Titans safety Michael Griffin getting the same amount over five years. Raiders safe- ty Tyvon Branch was next at four years, $26 million. Then came Scobee, Barth, Prater and Giants punter Steve Weatherford (five years, $12.75 million). greatest improvement was during the 50 yard backstroke by cutting 9 seconds off his time. Ethan Williams competed with Dante in the 7 and 8 year-old boys to earn himself a 3rd place trophy at the meet. He earned a "B" time for seven of the eight events for his age group. Curtis Twitchell added a 2nd place trophy to his collection, con- tinued to break records, and earned prestigious "A" times at his home meet. He broke records in the 200 Individual Medley, 100 back- stroke, 100 butterfly, 100 freestyle, and 50 freestyle. They strive for swimming every stroke legally as well. It is possible to be disqualified in a race for different reasons. Butterfly and breast- stroke have the most challenges for swimmers, followed by back- stroke, and then freestyle being the least likely (almost rare) to dis- qualify (DQ). For some, swimming a stroke "legally" is the first goal before increasing speed. With just a few weeks of prac- tice since his first meet, Cameron Beeman was able to increase his speed by 14 seconds in the 25 yard backstroke. Swim- Samantha Beeman shaved 30 seconds off her 100 yard back- stroke earning a 3rd place ribbon. She is also proud to have finished 4th in the 200 freestyle (8 pool lengths). Kaylee Ramsey gained confi- dence in her dive without doing a belly flop and swimming the breaststroke legally. Jace Shults shaved 9 seconds off the 50 backstroke with a time of 1:12.05 and placed first in his heat. He also had a personal best in the 25 backstroke in 32.58 seconds. Addison Snodgrass earned a "B" time in 4 events. He knows scissor kicks are not allowed dur- ing breaststroke and finished 2nd in his heat. He swam 4 laps for the first time at this meet in the 100 yd freestyle. Megan Snodgrass swam her best race in the 50 yard breaststroke, winning a blue ribbon for first place in the girls ages 9 and 10. It takes several hundreds of points for a team to win a top tro- phy at a swim meet. Any swimmer with a finish in the top 6 of their age and gender's group earn points for themselves to be a contender for an individual award. The same number of points are added onto the team's total points. his first meet two weeks ago, but raced in the breaststroke, for the second time, at the Red Bluff Invi- tational and was thrilled that he did not disqualify. Ryland Hethcoat completed the breaststroke without a DQ for a 7th place finish and swam the butterfly for the first time, in 49.11 seconds. Caitlyn Igarta participated in the 500 yard freestyle for the first time. Since the previous meet where she won her heat in a 400 meter freestyle, Igarta has learned that a loud bell rings above the lane of the leading swimmer at the last lap before a finish of a long dis- tance race. She finished with a time of 8:16.19. The other seven events were all PR's for Igarta. Chloe Lopez finished her best race during the 7 and 8 year old girls Medley Relay. Her team fin- ished first to receive a heat ribbon and a blue rosette ribbon. Megan Murray started with the Tritons as her first swim team and had only raced 25 yard lengths at Dual Meets this summer. This was her first Invitational and her fist time racing in a 50 yard event.
