Coach Brian Medeiros said he noticed a difference in the team in the Los Mo- linos game, so the Warriors could be fired up for a late- season run. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at The Branson School, 39 Fernhill Ave. in Ross. BulldogsatUpperLake UPPER LAKE The Los Mo- linos Bulldogs will try to bounce back from a big loss Oct. 15 to the Mercy Warriors when they hit the road to face the Upper Lake Cougars Saturday. The Bulldogs will get their top offensive weapon back this week as Alex Rus- sell returns after being ejected two weeks ago and having to sit against Mercy. The Cougars sit at fifth place in the North Central III 8-man league at 2-4 overall and 2-3 in league play. The Cougars boast a strong passing game thanks to Derek Pritchard, who has 1,213 passing yards for 14 touchdowns and 7 picks. On the ground, the Bull- dogs will need to stop Ja- cob Kalawaia, who has 555 yards on 65 carries for 11 touchdowns. Top targets for Pritchard are Nathan Sneed with 335 yards and 4 touchdowns and Chris Fecht with 304 yards and 3 scores. Despite missing more than two full games on the season, Russell has posted 146 passing yards and 862 rushing yards with 9 com- bined touchdowns. Hunter Landingham, starting two games under center, has 140 yards pass- ing and 368 yards rush- ing for 3 combined touch- downs. Wyatt Ball, who leads the Bulldogs with 3 sacks, will have to get pressure on Pritchard and Hay- don Hamre, who leads the team in interceptions with 3, will have to step up cov- erage to keep the Bulls in check. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Saturday at Upper Lake High School, 675 Clover Valley Road in Upper Lake. Spartans bye RED BLUFF The Red Bluff Spartans (1-7 overall, 1-3 league) are off this week but will travel to Shasta Lake to face the Central Valley Falcons (1-6 over- all, 0-3 league), with kick- off scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Football FROM PAGE 1 ker missing an open net on a backhand attempt with the man advantage that would have given the Sharks a 3-0 lead. Instead, Malkin cut the Sharks' lead to 2-1 with 13:13 to go in the third, and Scott Wilson tied the game with 10:59 left. The Sharks dominated the first half of the game and Hertl gave them a 1-0 lead with 14:56 left in the second period. Joe Pavelski took a long pass near the Penguins' blue line from Brent Burns and fired a shot on net from a sharp angle that Marc-Andre Fleury, who had lost his stick, couldn't control. Hertl followed up the play to score his second goal in as many games. Burns now has at one point in each of the Sharks' first five games and a team- high nine for the season. The Sharks didn't allow a Penguins shot on goal until there was 10:02 to go in the period. Still, minor penalties taken by Boedker and David Schlemko nearly derailed that momentum, as the Penguins appeared to tie the game with 6:41 left on the power play. Penguins forward Phil Kessel hit the post on a shot from a sharp angle, and the rebound first went be- hind Jones. The puck then bounced up and a crash- ing Hornqvist knocked it in. But after a video re- view, officials determined that Hornqvist "batted the puck into the San Jose net with his hand." Sharks FROM PAGE 1 FRED VUICH — THE ASSOCIATED PRESS San Jose Sharks right wing Joonas Donskoi (27) and Pittsburgh Penguins le wing Scott Wilson (23) scramble for a loose puck during the second period Thursday in Pittsburgh.
