TheAssociatedPress SAN FRANCISCO Four teenage students were shot in the shared parking lot of two San Francisco high schools Tuesday, and one of the students is in critical condi- tion, authorities said. The shooting occurred as stu- dents were being let out of school for the day from the June Jordan SchoolforEquityandCityArtsand Technology High School, which share a campus, San Francisco Po- lice Officer Carlos Manfredi said. Three of the victims ran inside the school, and police initially or- dered students to stay in place un- til police searched each room and determined it was not an active shooter situation. A fourth vic- tim hurt in the shooting went to a hospital, Manfredi said. "Welcome to Farm Day," said Shelley Macdonald, a member of the Tehama County Farm Bu- reau's Agricultural Education Committee. "We hope you're ex- cited to learn about where your food comes from and how farm- ersareapartofoureverydaylife." Tuesday's event marks the 21st year the farm bureau has hosted Farm Day in Tehama County, said manager Kari Dodd. Spon- sors include the farm bureau, Golden State Farm Credit, Red Bluff Kiwanis and the California Milk Advisory Board. "Farm Day allows all of Te- hama County's fourth grade stu- dents the opportunity to come learn about many agriculture industries and commodities in Tehama County," Dodd said. "They learn about where their food and fiber comes from and that it doesn't just come from a store. Tehama County Farm Bu- reau is proud to provide these hands-on agricultural learning opportunities for our youth. By Heather Hoelscher hhoelscher@redbluffdailynews.com @DN_Heather on Twitter RED BLUFF Dignity Health's St. Elizabeth Community Hospital is celebrating Acts of Humankind- ness Week through Friday and held a party Tuesday to honor the staff members for what they do for their communities every day and those who have exhibited acts of kindness in their workplace. In August, the company opened nominations and received 256 nominations from its North State facilities, including Mercy Medi- cal Centers in Redding and Mt. Shasta and St. Elizabeth, said Amanda Harter, Marketing Com- munications manager. There were 53 medical professionals and staff members who received the Acts of Humankindness Award and 20 people honored with the Dignity Health Steward Award. Award winners and employ- ees came out to the lawn area of the hospital to enjoy live music by Gringo, get their pictures taken in a photo booth and enjoy a free lunch from food trucks. There were six professionals out of the 20 in the North State who received the Steward Award from St. Elizabeth. Among those who won the award was Amy Gonczeruk, Com- munication manger, who was nominated by multiple people in her department. At City Hall, Deputy City Clerk Cheryl Smith swore in Bill Wil- liams as the newest sergeant and Ruben Murgia was promoted to corporal.
