TheAssociatedPress TRUCKEE Anautumnsnowstorm dusted higher elevations in Cali- fornia's Sierra Nevada with sev- eral inches of fresh powder. Authorities required drivers to use tire chains on several roads in the Donner Summit area, where the wintry scene that started Sunday was replaced with sunny skies Monday afternoon. National Weather Service me- teorologist Travis Wilson says the last few showers of the storm died off by Monday afternoon. He says about an inch of snow accumu- lated in one area. He says warm weather will re- turn to the area starting Tuesday. The seven videos are a part of a series shot in June for the Te- hama County website to promote the area and it was all done at no cost to the county by CGI Commu- nications because the videos are an in-kind donation of services, said Tehama County Jobs Devel- MARKETING Tehama marketing videos to debut Wednesday By Julie Zeeb jzeeb@redbluffdailynews.com @DN_Zeeb on Twitter RED BLUFF The annual Sorop- timist International of Red Bluff Chocolate Fantasia was held Sat- urday at the Red Bluff Commu- nity Center and the event sold out well in advance, with only 250 tickets available. "This year we sold out for the first time ever," said Jill Wabbel, event co-chairwoman. "We ac- tually sold out two to three days before the event, but that means that it will be able to give out scholarships." Money from the event goes to- ward scholarships and other proj- ects of the organization, Wabbel said. In 2015, the event brought in about $5,000. Past projects the group has sup- ported include the PATH organi- zation's ladies housing and the Salvation Army. The group, which meets twice a month and is open to women who want to help out in the com- munity, also volunteers at the Te- hama District Fair. Wabbel said she is excited about a new program Soroptimist International is promoting called "Dream It, Be It," which focuses on career support for girls. JULIE ZEEB โ€” DAILY NEWS By Julie Zeeb jzeeb@redbluffdailynews.com @DN_Zeeb on Twitter RED BLUFF A small crowd of about 30 people waited for the doors to open Saturday at the Tehama County Library, where the I-Scream Social was held despite a tempest brewing with winds of nearly 30 mph, according to the Na- tional Weather Service. "It was a great success," said Librarian Sally Ain- sworth. "I'd say we had at least a couple hundred in the first few hours and about 300 overall." The main success of the event though was in pairing up children and their fami- lies with costumes as part of a free giveaway of cos- tumes, some never worn, Ainsworth said. The library was able to get a large dona- tion this year and had about 300 costumes on hand that filled several tables in one of the back rooms. Everything from a tiny lion to witches hats and a Fred Flinstone style tie for adults and fairy wings and character cos- tumes was available. "It was great being able to give costumes to those who need it, especially to the kids who might not have otherwise been able to get them," Ain- sworth said. The other success was in getting about 30 children signed up for a new year- round reading incentive pro- gram the library is ready to launch and giving each of those kids a book, Ainsworth said. In addition to ice cream there was a sticker art area and Georgia Scott did a tarot card reading for donations. The proceeds from the event will go toward the new library, which had at least $900,000 raised as of last count, Ainsworth said. The li- brary, which will be at 545 Di- amond Ave., is on schedule to be open by July 2017 and the staff is looking forward to the new location.
