Rowling: Five films on the way J.K. Rowling surprised those at a fan event on Thursday in London, and announced there will be five "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" films. "We always knew it was going to be more than one movie, and we said a trilogy as a placeholder. But I've done the plotting properly and I'm pretty sure it's going to be five movies," Rowling said, according to Newsweek. The first film hits theaters Nov. 18, and Warner Bros. has scheduled a sequel for 2018, according to Entertainment Weekly. David Bates, who directed the first four Harry Potter films, will return.
