Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine aggressively chal- lenged Indiana Gov. Mike Pence over a long list of Donald Trump's controversial positions and state- ments Tuesday night, drawing a vigorous defense from the Repub- lican No. 2 on Trump's tax history. But Pence left Trump's demean- ing comments about women, Barack Obama's citizenship and broader questions about temper- ament go largely unchallenged. Pence and Kaine, who have re- ceived little attention in a race fo- cused on Trump and Hillary Clin- ton, faced off for 90 minutes in the only vice presidential debate of the campaign. With the close White House race perhaps starting to tip in Clinton's favor, Pence outlined a detailed conservative agenda on ELECTION 2016 Ka in e at ta ck s, Pence fights ba c k in d eb at e By Heather Hoelscher hhoelscher@redbluffdailynews.com @DN_Heather on Twitter CORNING The City Council has decided to bring the discussion of the alteration of the Streetscape bulb out features back tothecoun- cil at the Oct. 11 council meeting due to changing the plans. Bulb outs are curb extensions meant to reduce crossing distance for pedestrians at intersections and prevent vehicles parking too close to intersections in order to improve visibility for both drivers and pedestrians. The proposed plan is to take out a portion of two bulb outs within intersections of the proj- ect and fill them in with stamped concrete to keep with the decora- tive concept of the project as well as provide safety to those who have not been able to maneuver the bulb outs. Landscaping will remain on a portion of the bulb outs.
