Dr. Peter L. Mattei
M O H S S U R G E O N
Dr. Peter Mattei comes to our area as a fellowship
trained surgeon in a procedure called Mohs Surgery, a
highly effective treatment for certain skin cancers.
The Mohs procedure removes tissue one layer at a
time, and examines each layer to ensure the cancer is
eliminated, offering the highest potential for a cure.
Dr. Mattei recently joined Pinehurst Surgical
after completing a fellowship in Micrographic
Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology at the Skin
Institute of South Florida. He has also attained a
Cosmetic Dermatologic Surgery Fellowship
through the American Society of
Dermatologic Surgeons.
He completed his dermatology
residency at The Johns Hopkins
Hospital and is a board certified
dermatologist. Prior to his
residency, he conducted research
as a dermatology clinical trials
fellow at The Massachusetts
General Hospital and Harvard
Medical School.
Dr. Mattei is a proud veteran and
served three years on active
duty as a flight surgeon in the
United States Air Force where
he deployed in support of
Operation Iraqi Freedom and
Operation Enduring Freedom.
He graduated from The College
of William and Mary and Drexel
University College of Medicine.
He is settling in with his
wife and two children and
looks forward to serving our
community.
