2A Daily News – Friday, July 6, 2012 Community people&events School takes week-long trips Kelly-Griggs Ice Cream Social Special to the DN Four musicians with 200 years' combined experience on guitar, fid- dle, bass and vocals will entertain during the upcoming Kelly-Griggs House Museum's 47th Ice Cream Social 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, at 331 Washington St. in Red Bluff. Also entertaining will be The Red Bluff Com- munity Band directed by Jay Thiel. All tickets are $5. Special to the DN Students Sacramento River Discovery Charter School went on week-long field trips in May. The 9th, 11th and 12th grade students explored his- torical California treasures such as McCloud, Chico and Sacramento during the annual educational field trips. The 10th grade biology students were in Monterey Bay discovering marine life and natural treasures. During the school's annual tent camping field trip, students enjoyed playing on the beach, making nature observations and tide pooling at Pt. Lobos Preserve, petting the sting rays at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and learning about the Monarch Butterflies at Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History. The school appreciates the following businesses for their support: Cornerstone Bank, Redding Oil Co./Valero South Main Gas Station, The Gold Exchange, Les Groscup, CEO of Entertainment at Power Balance Pavilion, and the Tehama County Deputy Sheriff's Association. In an art and photogra- phy show of support, once again, both the Red Bluff Art Association and Tehama County Photo Club will present their craft for sale. Native Daughters of the Golden West — Berrendos Parlor will greet, sell and take tickets at the front gate. Akers of Events will provide seating and tables for family and friends to relax and enjoy the music, ice cream, cookies and the "back in time" nostalgia of the 1880 Vic- torian built by Sidney Griggs, a 49er who came to California from New Hampshire to seek his fortune. um's clothing collection and offer a silent auction of antiques and col- lectibles donated by asso- ciates.
