7 Bishop Seabury Academy Annual Report of Giving 2015-2016 From the Head of School W e started the 2016-17 academic school year with incredible energy and enthusiasm—and a lot of fresh faces. Our sixth grade has the largest population in our history with 28 students, and our enrollment has topped 200! I always enjoy the waves of enthusiasm from new students and parents in the opening weeks of school, and their comments reinforce what I have often heard from prior families: it is one thing to hear about the school, but it is really powerful to finally experience the Seabury culture firsthand. In the enclosed Annual Report of Giving for the 2015-16 school year, we look back on a vibrant year of study, ambition, and play, and a year of great generosity and support from our friends and family. It was a year of tremendous growth and success at all levels. In many ways, Bishop Seabury Academy has arrived at its objective. We have achieved our mission to provide an excellent education to students who truly love to learn. Now, we turn our attention to the future and begin to make plans for the next phase of growth. The board of trustees, staff, and I are very excited to ask of the school the same question we ask our students: What is our potential? To all of our alumni, families, and friends: thank you for continuing to support Seabury education, our teachers, and our students. We are just getting started. Yours respectfully, Dr. Schawang Now, we turn our attention to the future and begin to make plans for the next phase of growth. . . . We are just getting started. Cross country runners with our cool new tent gifted generously from a grandparent! From the Board of Trustees A s a parent of a Seabury graduate and senior, I have seen amazing growth in our school over the last eight years. It has been an honor to serve my first year as president of the Board of Trustees. It is humbling to join in the stewardship of a community so firmly determined to provide an excellent academic and moral education to young people. I have seen the positive impact of that education every day in my own children. By conventional standards, Bishop Seabury Academy is a young school, yet the clarity of its mission and the commitment of our headmaster, faculty, parents, trustees, and friends has helped us to achieve noteworthy success in a very short time. With this present trajectory of growth, the time has come to further develop our physical campus to accommodate the incredible spirit and ambitions of our expanding student body. This year, the Board of Trustees has hired a team of architects to help guide Seabury leadership through a master planning process. Our facilities committee has been key to this important step in our development. Representative parents, alumni, and students, along with faculty, have been a part of various workshops held over the summer to help envision a master plan for our school's campus and facilities. As we continue through this planning phase, we continue to reflect on the school's mission and our objectives as we work collaboratively to develop a vision of Seabury's future. It is an exciting time! Yours respectfully, Scott Zaremba President of Board of Trustees 2016-17
